Re: Review: Deck Restore.
Timely post. Our deck is in need of replacement (almost 20 years old) and we have been debating on using wood again or going with the more expensive composite materials. I am wanting to stay with wood and this coating looks like a very inexpensive and workable protectant.

Composite material is good stuff but expensive. Wood on the other hand can last a very long time if taken care of properly. But that obviously comes with time and effort on Yearly maintainence. Each product has its ups and downs. So it's kinda like spend the money now or spend it later.BK Meyers wrote:Timely post. Re: Review: Deck Restore.
looks pretty good. We have been kicking a product around like this for a while. (i work in industrial coattings/paint). we made some for one guy he has a huge deck and we want to see how it does over the winter. his deck looked alot worse than yours did coach. How well did it fill any cracks. We worry about how it would react to water getting in one of the cracks and freezing.

Re: Review: Deck Restore.
Oddly enough in 20 years I have only treated our deck one time and pressure washed it twice. It has a roof over it so that may have helped add some years to the life. Our new deck will be larger (because girls like big decks) and part of the expansion will be exposed/non-covered so I am expecting additional maintenance. I like the look and feel of wood versus the composite material but when the decision time comes then the boss (my wife Jennifer) will have input as well. Since I will be responsible for the deck maintenance I want to stay with treated wood.Rem700 wrote:Composite material is good stuff but expensive. Thanks for the review, I have been interested in this stuff.

If this is Restore by Rustoleum, we just put it on 15 balconies my complex. We has 2 different types. One looked just like stain for the underside and the other was the gritty stuff for the walking surface. Supposed to add 10 years deck life.

Re: Review: Deck Restore.
My dad was looking I to this stuff this year but read a bunch of really bad reviews. Basically what he read was that if you don't prep and apply perfectly it will just start peeling up in chicks

Re: Review: Deck Restore.
Thanks for the update. Looking to stain deck in a Couple Weeks. My father inlaw used the behr brand and was really bragging on it. He just applied it about one month ago. If it keeps coming up on chunks,i can't imagine having to strip the whole deck just to start over with a different product. think I will go with defy deck stain.

Re: Review: Deck Restore.
Not sure which one you are using but you can try contacting the manufacturer, they will more than likely refund/replace the stuff for you.
