Intratec Tec 9s

Post by Phil_Osophy » Thu Jun 05, 2014 11:30 pm

I know Tec 9s don't have a very good track record in general, but does anyone here have much experience with them? I'm starting to really want one, but can't seem to find one at a reasonable price.

The prices are being hiked up like the Keltec pmr 30s. Lol.

Are they worth having?
And where could i find a cheap one?

Junk....

Owned a couple and they were pretty lame.

Last one I had, I actually tried to get it where it was somewhat reliable. New springs, extractor, mags, clean, polish etc....it wasn't even reliable enough to enjoy shooting. Spent more time messing with it and clearing FTEs and double feeds than I did shooting...

Huh $650? I've seen a couple here lately for about $400 at the local gun shows. Always thought it would be cool to add one to the collection one day.

I remember when gun shops had these for $150 and still couldn't sell them.

I wouldn't fool with it since it is a niche item that is notably unreliable. I had one when I was younger that worked flawlessly but it was one in a million I have came to see.

I was looking into them as well until I read this post I hadn't looked at how much they went up. Never mind I'd give $150 tops for one and wasn't they made by Kel tec before they become Kel tec anyways

If you want a 9mm, high capacity, heavy pistol, consider looking at the M11/9's. Much, much more reliable, much easier to work on/with, can actually be made to run the way it's supposed to, and coupled with a good suppressor, a very effective short range, heavy hitting street sweeper/room clearing weapon. They are also remarkably accurate, even with their very rudimentary iron sights. All in all, a pretty good package for around $300.00, with lots of potential for upgrades and add-ons.

Mine is a 25 year old Cobray which at first was a little reluctant to run, but after some clean up and polishing and getting some of the good steel magazines, has run like a Swiss watch for decades, now.

cheaper to just sbr yo glock to have a vgrip (or better yet ar if u has)
+ you already have some mags
+ reliability
+ could add a stock, like the thing endo blog sells
+ upgrade/replacement parts
+ you could add an aimpoint on a toprail

-i didnt like the fwd magwell on my tec and dont see it as a benefit unless in a caliber longer than my hand can fit around. i like the weight in the mag back in my strong hand.
-ive shot a glock that had a vgrip and didnt use it...and on ar at most like an afg (just my prefs)

I just picked up a 33rd mag today. I went out for a regular 17, came home with a 33.

The 9mm Glock with a 33 rd magazine is just waaaay too much fun (but gets expensive, fast!). Another fun gun is a Kel-Tec Sub2K in .40 with a 31rd mag, but it gets 'spensive, too!

I agree! I have a few 33rd mags and a G17 grip Sub2K. It's a freaking blast!

The 33 round mags for the Glock are ok. I prefer the 50 round drum on mine.

I'm planning on getting a drum for mine soon. One day I'll probably sbr my glock. I always fantasize about decking one out with a stock, fore grip, 9 inch barrel, red dot sight, etc, etc
