Dodge charger vs ford crown victoria
Does anybody here have experience with either car?
Ive searched the web and found mixed reviews on both.
Im planning to purchase another car and ive decided i want one of these two.
Are the non hemi chargers really junk? (I know, a non hemi charger is like a glock 17 with a 10 round mag)
All advice is appreciated.

IMO it depends what you expect out of it. A Charger with a v6 IMO is junk, but if its just to get from point A to B then why not save some coin on the car and gas? I have toyed with the idea of a new ride, but my 97 camry still runs and is pretty good on gas. Right now thats more important to me a than "enjoying" driving the car. I am a car guy i just cant justify owning the cars i want.

I will never, ever... Repeat... EVER own a dodge vehicle after working on my BIL's Car. Was a cluster fuck nightmare.
Get the ford.

I may be wrong but I think you'll find most here would favor anything Ford over anything Chrysler probably 95% of the time.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

at least that's my impression.
But I did leave a 5% opening for stuff like that.

Re: Dodge charger vs ford crown victoria
Get a police crown vic for cheap. 300,000 miles is no prob on a maintained crown vic. Parts are cheap too if you need to fix anything. Plenty to be found in junk yards for parts. There is also a performance aftermarket for them too. Not to mention police alternators if you want to run speakers and stuff. Oh and I have heard the state trooper crown vics have rear ends with gears better for highway cruising mpg.

Re: Dodge charger vs ford crown victoria
Obviously the charger is the more expensive choice. I know that the crown vic is a proven car and easy to repair. The (new) charger is still iffy in terms of reliability etc. But if the charger is a good car, i may want to go with it, but ive heard lots of bad things about it (particularly the v6 version). Ive heard good things as well. Its really a 2 way street, though, because ive seen some folks bashing the crown vic.
My inner voice says "you know better, get the ford", but part of me really wants to be behind the wheel of a charger. I can only imagine what kind of premium the insurance company will give a 20 year old with a charger...... thats the worse part.

We all said avoid the dodge, he's still talking about dodge.
I'd rock a p71 in a heartbeat. 2003+ cars have the PI heads. A little more powa.

Re: Dodge charger vs ford crown victoria
If you buy a Dodge anything, you will regret it. Their designs suck, and will not hold up for shit, plus replacement parts are horribly expensive. Insurance is going to be a nightmare on a Dodge as well.
I would buy almost anything by GM before I spent a dime on a Dodge, and I hate GM products with a purple passion.

Re: Dodge charger vs ford crown victoria
They're both turds regardless. You mentioned good gas mileage, when's the last time you've driven either one? They are both awful on gas. Even the v6 trim models are hard on gas.

Re: Dodge charger vs ford crown victoria
I drove a charger breifly when i was 17. I loved the feel of it. I didnt drive it long enough to determine gas mileage. Plus i was 17 and knew even less about cars than i do now, which isnt much.

Re: Dodge charger vs ford crown victoria
You figure a v6 is almost as bad as a v8. A v6 toting around 5000 pound turd takes up a lot of fuel.

Re: Dodge charger vs ford crown victoria
It's prolly the best of the bunch. My buddies wife had a v6 charger and said it did about 18mpg. Now she has a hemi magnum and he says its like 15mpg.86 slo-vo wrote:The 4.6L crown Vic's do pretty good on gas.
Re: Dodge charger vs ford crown victoria
I'd say if you drove the 4.6 Vic decently it would do 18ish in town and pull into the mid 20's on the highway.
