When a rig is stuck that I have to hammer on the skinny petal, I turn around and run the winch out. Slow and steady on those off chamber, stuck in a bog recoveries. When the kinetic force is distributed to the stuck rig, nasty things can happen.

I towed a Ram 1500 4wd pickup about 1/2 mile Wednesday with my S-10 pickup. It was on a level road, used a tow strap I had carried for 15 years and never used. Hooked loop on my ball (receiver hitch) and to front push bumper of Ram. Ram was not stuck, fuel pump died.
Cutting grass is the price I gladly pay for not being cold.

A winch is great but not always an option. In some cases it definitely takes some thought not to do damage retrieving someone but it can usually happen. One thing I've noticed is you rarely get your money's worth out of your winch, all your friends do...haha

Tractor Supply has the best tow straps for the money that I can find. I plan on getting one really soon to where I can help out some people as well.

Yeah, but towing equipment isn't made to handle the riggers of recovery. A winch will sit on its plate till it's needed, and when it's needed... I run a Superwinch 9000epi. It's served me very well. Pulling me out of nasty stucks, righting the rig a few times and countless pulls for other rigs. I plan on installing one in the rear, that one is for me to use, the front is for others mainly. ;-)

Full Size are fun. Plenty of room, unlike my rig. Just needs some bumpers, and rock sliders, possibly some armor underneath too. :-). The list can go on and on!! Just when you think you're done, nope!

One thing I have seen a huge lack in in KY sense coming from TX, is the lack of OBA(On Board Air) and roll cages. When you off road, it's not if you will flop or roll, it's when.

I used to do lots of off roading. Not so much anymore. I have to say a tow strap gets my vote. Easier to maintain than chain and lighter and your wet gloves don't freeze to a strap like they will on a chain. Plus with a strap you can self recover by wrapping it around a drive wheel

I stopped off roading after a buddy drove my Cherokee off a cliff and made the radiator/fan a permanent part of the engine block.. I had spent years building that rig using parts from a couple different jeeps, plus a 3" moab lift and when he totaled it I had neither the time nor desire to build it over again....

Yeah I feel you on the loss. I do to let folks drive my rig unless they can afford to replace it completely, or warming my bed.

Second the no hooks on the strap....a safety issue.

I have a co-worker who was using a strap with a hook to move a stump, strap snapped, hook flew and hit his son in the head. The story does not have a good ending at all. Very, very sad. Had they used a loop strap, when it snapped at least the bare strap was less likely to be a lethal weapon.

Ouch! That is sad. One if the main reason why I stopped using wire cable on my winch. Had one break on me a long time ago. Luckily I did not have a lot of cable panned out. Huge burden at on the drum though.

That was about an hour worth of play time at the farm a few years back^^^^ Luckily nobody was seriously hurt. Took a chunk out of my shin from bare sheet metal on that first vehicle flip that looked really ugly. nothing some Grey Goose Vodka couldn't sterilize!

Ah, donuts!! I like the taste and the fun of them! That last video, it's seems it flopped on a small incline. Been there, rig just falls over doing a turn around.
