Hudson H9
The Hudson H9 has had a lot of interesting people talking and hinting for quite a while now. Hudson has managed to stay, and keep others, pretty quiet about it. Today it was finally, officially, revealed.
https://www.hudsonmfg.com/ SPECS
MSRP: $1,147.00
OVERALL LENGTH 7.625in
OVERALL HEIGHT 5.225in
OVERALL WIDTH 1.24in
BARREL LENGTH 4.28in
WEIGHT UNLOADED 34oz
TRIGGER PULL WEIGHT 4.5-5 lbs
TRIGGER TRAVEL .115in
MAG CAPACITY 15
SIGHT RADIUS 6.26in
G10 VZ GRIPS
TRIJICON HD FRONT SIGHT
G10 HOGUE LOWER BACKSTRAP
Hudson started back in 2013 with the question of, "why can't the legendary trigger of the 1911 be combined with the reliability of a striker firing mechanism?" Now they think they've done that, and a bit more along the way. From what I can tell they've combined the steel frame, grip angle, and straight-pull trigger of the classic 1911 with the striker firing mechanism, double stack magazine capacity, and trigger safety of Glocks and Glock-likes. Their new design drops the guide rod and recoil spring drastically lower, allowing the barrel (bore axis) to be lowered. Like the M&P line, they have an optional 1911 style safety if you prefer or are required to use manual safeties.
I don't think this is a new pistol I'll HAVE to go out and buy as soon as it's available. I do think it is true innovation, and that excites me. I can't wait to see it in action.

Re: Hudson H9
Now this... this is interesting, I read an article on it awhile back, but never heard anything else about it.

Re: Hudson H9
I don't think $1150 MSRP is outrageous, and you're not fooling anyone acting like you can't afford it!
They didn't have a starting point to build from. Years of R&D, prototyping, and finally production of something almost completey new. The only reused components I see are the ones it would make more sense to reuse than not, like sights and grip panels. From the interested parties and the general feel of the company I imagine this will be a high quality, lowish production firearm that already comes with a lot of upgrades/features you'd have to put on other guns. VZ Grips, Trijicon sights, front and back strap checkering. At that STREET price range in 1911's we see different offerings from Kimber, Colt, lower cost Dan Wesson models. Some have checkering, or aftermarket sights, or a rail, and some don't. I can't find any that have all of that, and certainly none of them are new or innovative designs.

Re: Hudson H9
Personally I really like the way it looks. I think it has a futuristic Sci-Fi vibe.
I don't love that normal currently produced pistol lights will be awkward to use with it, but something can be done to work around that. DG/tape style switches, if nothing else. Or maybe not, and it'll be relegated to just a fun/competition gun. I can still appreciate it.

Re: Hudson H9
pistol lights would be my main issue with the design..but innovation requires change. A guide rod laser would be perfect thoughWhootsinator wrote:Personally I really like the way it looks. I think it has a futuristic Sci-Fi vibe.

Re: Hudson H9
By that thinking, we should each own only 1 pistol and 1 rifle?Dave1965 wrote:Not doing much for me, ugly looking and bulky, doubt it would overtake anything I currently have.

Re: Hudson H9
I definitely like it. I won't be first in line to buy one at that price. I wouldn't say its overpriced though. I read that the company already makes a trigger without the safety to swap in If you prefer.

My take as well. Not really a fan of the looks but wouldn't mind trying one out.Niceguy wrote:The rear 2/3 of the pistol is fine, it's from in front of the trigger gaurd that's hideous...

Glock and Ar15, you just got to have a bunch of them.dbh wrote:By that thinking, we should each own only 1 pistol and 1 rifle?Dave1965 wrote:Not doing much for me, ugly looking and bulky, doubt it would overtake anything I currently have.
Until we see a leap in amunition such as caseless self powder metering weapons, a new source of purpoltion, new type of projectile, it will be hard to beat what is currntly on the market.
