Pistol build. ( sbr) to come later
So I am doing a pistol build to sbr.
Looking for 10.5 inch or so (9.5-11.5)
Looking at either doing 5.56 or 300 AAC blackout.
Don't have supressors for either so it's not a factor but one could be in future especially 300 sub through a 9mm can.
Deciding factors for me are:
#1 parts available
#2 ammo available at reasonable price I understand 300blk is more expensive.
#3 cost to build
#4 uses and practicality.
--------I think the 300 out of shorter barrel will be more effective from things I have read, but out of a 10.5 inch 5.56 should do well to correct?
This gun will be shot little as I don't get to rifle range much but will pull duty as primary rifle for SHTF.
Inputs appreciated with reasons why. Parts and ammo sources for 300 would be helpful too.

NFA is a game of patience..... And it's for life usually. Just some things to consider.

SBRs are cool, no doubt about it. But unless they are suppressed their disadvantages outweigh their advantages, IMHO. But if you're looking for something that's fun to play with, go for it.
As to caliber, the .300 AAC is a very interesting concept, but, again-- in my opinion--its disadvantages outweigh it's advantages. Supersonic, it offers a narrow performance advantage to the 5.56 (at close ranges only), but at greatly increased cost. Subsonic, it's a very expensive handgun round.
If you *do* decide to go with .300 AAC, one caution: because the shoulder of this cartridge is pushed back, .300 AAC rounds *will* chamber in a 5.56 rifle--in most cases you don't even need to use the forward assist to force it in--and it will blow your gun up. If I had one I'd have dedicated magazines that were color-coded or otherwise clearly marked to ensure I didn't do something stupid.

get an already assembled 10.5" upper
get a stripped lower, parts kit, and a pistol tube
put it together, get a mini red dot of your choice and go enjoy it
I built my pistol for under $700
forget about the 300blk, I don't see you needing it for a specific purpose, therefore you will get sick of it after the exotic caliber phase in you goes away and you trade it for 5.56 something

I'll give you $50 and not charge you for the paracord when you tire of it next week and decide to sell it. I gave you the cord so I would have dibs on it.....

haha i told you where to get the upper so ya they may. I got the tech letter and a CAA saddle from tyler that was FDE last night it got rit dyed black.
