New 17HMR
My 8 year old grew out of his Savage Rascal this spring and I couldn't find a suitable .22 replacement so I ordered up a Savage GV lefty 17hmr for him. Slapped a cheapo Weaver 3-9x and an old leather sling I had laying around, he's convinced its pretty much exactly the same as an early M40. I won't tell him otherwise. He loves it, who am I to pop that bubble?

Re: New 17HMR
We have been lazy just shooting off bags. This weekend the wife is leaving so we are going to work on shooting offhand with a hasty sling. I need practice in this area too, might switch it out to balloons or steel plates for targets so we can at least see some results.

Re: New 17HMR
New rifle is awesome so far!
My shooting unsupported? Not so much haha. I'm not very steady and have spent too much time with a bipod or bags. I swiped the Leupold 3.5-10x off my older son's Chinese M1A so I could get shooting.
We spent our time at the 40 metre range as my 7 yr old was with us, she's inherited Hank's Rascal now. She did ok, shooting at a large Shoot N C target she had a big orange bull to try for.
Drinking a Tecate now.
