Dream gear
Post the coolest, oddest gear you can find. Stuff that is so out there that it could be from the future. Also the stuff you really want, but can never justify the expense.

Interesting concept. I would just prefer portability head alone.

Re: Dream gear
That looks like the one i have, but mine has SS pliers rather than the black ones in this photo. Not readily seen are the slot and phillips head screwdrivers in 2 sizes each, and the 7/64 hex key and T15 torx. It's not shown in the photo, but it should come with a tool that is a front sight adjustment tool at one end and an 3/8 closed end wrench at the other. The moly pouch houses both tools. It is VERY handy, and i have used it more on other stuff than on guns LOL.ballscutoff1978 wrote:This is becoming a wish list than anything. Well to finish out my leatherman fix, how about the MUT

Cool! Yeah it comes in SS and black. I like the idea of a pocket/belt loop. Also it doesn't have any of the tools I never used and has the ones I do. Also how many of the tools can be replaced easily is a huge plus. I have a few "multis" laying around with twisted broken tools.
How large of a wire can that cut, barb wire fencing?

Re: Dream gear
Not sure on the wire cutting, have only cut up to 10 or 12 ga copper wire with it. Accessory sheet shows that the base of the blades at the pinch point is called "hard wire cutters" but i don't know their definition of hard wire.
On the bottom of the pivot point and just above the crimper are bypass cutters. The wire that would fit in them wouldn't be much more than 1/16" thick. but that would cover a lot. I haven't used these, around here i use a small set of bolt cutters for cutting fence wire for the extra leverage.
One thing if forgot to mention are the 8-32 threaded holes that will take cleaning accessories. I like to use the thing as a handle to pull through the otis coated wire pull-through thingie instead of using a cleaning rod to avoid barrel/muzzle damage. You might need to get a male-male adapter, though, to attach it to the otis wire.

Re: Dream gear
I think ssracer has them and likes them. Pretty sure I used his to unjam my ar at a shoot. We used the foot end that pulled the bolt back as we slammed the butt stock on the ground several times.ballscutoff1978 wrote:This is becoming a wish list than anything. I have two, and they are extremely useful to have for quick range repairs, when necessary.ballscutoff1978 wrote:This is becoming a wish list than anything. Well to finish out my leatherman fix, how about the MUT

Accessorize!!
The bolt hold open as mentioned before can be quite useful if you have an extraction/ejection or feeding hiccup. I have been lucky in that regard, though, only think i needed it once in many thousand rounds downrange.

Re: Dream gear
Haha colors. Yeah I needed it for the ar and it was handy. There were many things to use but that was designed specifically to pull the bolt. It worked and I only needed it once. Never had another gun jam that didn't clear with simple recharge.Vividia wrote:They come in 2 colors?jackalo626 wrote:Why two of the same pair?Wyldman wrote:I have two, and they are extremely useful to have for quick range repairs, when necessary.ballscutoff1978 wrote:This is becoming a wish list than anything. Re: Dream gear
Do you have both models, the MUT and MUT EOD? I think the only difference is instead of the punch, replaced with the C4 spike. And crimping area is reworked for detcordWyldman wrote:I have two, and they are extremely useful to have for quick range repairs, when necessary.ballscutoff1978 wrote:This is becoming a wish list than anything. Re: Dream gear
Yep! There have been some folks who were really happy I had them with me at New Haven on more than one occassion!
I also have the ArfCom version (not made by Leatherman) that I like, a lot, more even than the MUT tools, but it is far more expensive. The ArfCom version is a bit better made and compact, & includes every tool necessary to work on any AR pattern rifle, including a castle nut wrench that the MUT tools lack.

Can not find anybody local that has them for sale. I know it's worth it, but I still like to kick the tires before purchasing.
