Re: The Chicken Thread
If you decide to raise any meat geese, I would be interested in at least one or two dressed birds. I have no way to handle caring for or raising my own.

Re: The Chicken Thread
I don't really have an interest in raising geese for meat. I'm sure at some point once we move I'll give it a whirl, but right now nnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Re: The Chicken Thread
Much like duck but richer, as geese have more fat, especially domestic geese. I used to hunt geese when I lived in Sugarland, TX, as their main migratory path was just a few miles southeast of my house. In the fall, there were so many geese flying over that it would sometimes actually dim the sunlight.
Trust me, it's damned good eating, especially when you don't have to worry about getting #4 shot between your teeth. Anything smaller would just piss them off.

Re: The Chicken Thread
Baby chicks will be in the last week of Feb. These will be all females, mixed breeds of great brown egg layers, and again be babies.
$4 a chick.

Dead chicken.
What animal would kill the chicken, skin the neck and leave every bit of the meat untouched. Maybe drained it of blood; very little on the ground.

Possum or coon. Especially since you're in the city.

Re: The Chicken Thread
You should come to the tractor supply parking lot where I live on the 1st or 3rd saturday (starting march 1) at 8 am. They have a livestock market and trade days each time. You could probably sell everything then.

Re: The Chicken Thread
I have some columbian wyandottes for sale this week. Female chicks.
My focus is switching over to meat chickens. these will be raised in SMALL batches. I have 5 sold so far out of the 15 that I am currently raising. As long as the rest don't do stupid chicken shit and die I'll have another 9 to 10 for sale at the end of April. PM me for pricing.
