Simplicity wooden clock
Here is the first wheel of 9 I have to cut for this clock. Still have some sanding, shaping and routing to complete but almost done.

No CNC, just a Delta band saw, Dewalt scroll saw, files and sanding. Oh and LOTS of patience.renovatio wrote:Do you have a CNC router? Looks awesome.

very nice Nemo! as a finish carpenter I tip my hat to you. I've not had much experience with band saws and scroll saws... jig saws, table saws, miter saws, circular saws, hand saws and reciprocating saws yes... routers and files, joiners... but nothing that small of detail!

Re: Simplicity wooden clock
Too cool!
I never do any woodworking any more. In fact, my Dremel scroll saw is on the list of stuff to put on Craig's List.
A friend has a 40W desktop laser and I'd be very tempted to cut those parts on the laser. Yes, I know that completely misses the point. The laser can do very intricate engraving that looks a bit like wood burning.
In addition to the others, I'm also looking forward to seeing the other parts and the finished product.

Man that is awesome. I do alot of woodworking and furniture making as a hobby, but have never done anything that intricate. Can't wait to see the finished product. Excellent job!

Thanks guys. Almost done with the gears and then on to frame and other running parts. Here is a picture of my first clock that has been happily ticking away for 6 years, runs +/- 2 to 3 minutes a day fast/slow depending on weather.

Ok, here are the wheels finished but still need to do a little shaping and final fitting/tuning. Now onto the frame, pendulum, spacers and axles, weight shell and hands.

It has one, it's still hiding in a plank of wood. I still have plenty of things to cut out before the first tick.busted leg wrote:no pendulum to regulate the escapment?????

I need to take a picture of the clock my BIL made a few years ago. I don't have the patience to make anything that takes more than an hour or two.
