Worth $500 or no?

Guy at work is selling an AR-15. He says I was the first person he thought of, that might buy it.

It's an Omni lower
NC Star upper
6 thirty round mags
1 twenty round mag
a "little bit" of ammo

He's asking $500. Is it worth the asking price?

Only reason I'm asking is...I haven't heard of Omni before he said it. The little bit I know about NC Star, is with their scopes. I have yet to see a scope from NC Star that has many good reviews.

What is the general opinion on the matter?

Not a chance that I would buy it. If I wanted a low budget AR the minimum I would buy would be a S&W M&P-15 Sport for $100+/-$50 more.

NC Star upper? I had no idea they made receivers.
For about the same amount of money you can get a name brand like S&W and avoid NC Star.

Several places around this area sell the rugers for $569.

Again.........Not a chance. If you want a cheap budget rifle, build a Palmetto State Armory on for the same price, and you can get MUCH better barrels and BCG's and the like.

I'm not actively shopping for an AR. I have one already.

The guy just came up to me and offered. I'm only asking to find out if it was a good deal since i am unfamiliar with Omni products. Seeing as it's not I just won't buy it lol. Thanks for all the suggestions though.
