Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
Since our govt is swirling further down the bowl and Castro's Canadian son put in an illegal change to firearms last year, I've had to diversify.
AR's are now prohib, so I stripped every part off all mine and rebuilt them on new receivers. Also picked up a couple of other rifles that weren't on the ban list (yet).

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread

Colt Lightweight Sporter I just put back together with a Cmmg .22 conversion in it. 16" barrel, 6 position extension, old vinyl acetate stock and a weird vintage red dot until I get an Aimpoint 2000 for it.
Pretty fun to shoot once I got the ammo sorted (def doesn't like subsonic, it didnt reset the hammer and would empty the mag with one trigger press).
Been working with the kids on a few drills we made up, and been doing some timed courses for fun. Their favorite is the Heat drill, carrying a heavy duffel and dumping mags into multiple targets (i got the idea from forgotten weapons). Rimfire range in the back yard is an awesome thing, we are always trying out new things.
Most of the shooting with the kids is rimfire just because of the cost and also the recoil factor for my youngest daughter (11).

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
When they banned them they told us we couldn't sell them and had to keep them in the safe until they figure out how they will take them.
So yeah I still have all my stuff. Been adding to the pile too, my place is a safe haven for everything people are afraid to hold onto. Can still buy ammo for now, but prices are pretty stupid. Buck a round for 55gr fmj 5.56 is the going rate, hence the .22 conversion.

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
Working on putting together a 9mm Colt smg with some of my spare parts now, got everything I need except a magwell adapter. Hard to source now for the old uzi/colt mags. Lots of stuff for glock style mags, but not really what I'm looking for. Glock style is last resort if I can't find the old style.⁰

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
Finally finished my version of the holy grail smg. All colt, sort of a bastard mix of a couple different models. 100% function after spending an afternoon tweaking, took me 5 years to find all the parts.
10" barrel with 9mm a1 flash hider, SP1 lower, 2 position buffer tube with vinyl acetate stock, clone 607 handguard, old USGI modded sling, mk custom shorty grip. Small parts from the retro bin for the vibe.
Ruger pc9 can kiss my ass, this thing is unreal. No recoil, super lightweight.
I don't need any more guns in my life. I may try to find a vintage aimpoint to put on top of the carry handle, haven't decided yet.

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
My next project is a vintage style dissipator. Running out of parts in the current canadian political climate but I think I have pretty much everything I need to build a correct upper for it. Gassing it right will be the biggest challenge.
16" rifle barrel/gas system, a1 upper with some old triangular handguards I have sitting here. Should be fun.

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
Had this 20" rifle built from Colt SP1 parts, couldn't get it to group better than 1.5" with match ammo at 100 yds (bipod and rear squeeze bag).
Rebuilt it with an 18.5" 1:8 twist barrel and free floated it with PRI carbon handguard. Slapped on other parts to complete the mk12 vibe including the proper ARMS rear sight.
Haven't had a chance to test it out yet, minus 40 here lately. Might do some more rattle can work on it, I was bout half through a bottle when I did it the other night.

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
I'm hoping for 1/2 moa performance with it, but I'll be happy if I can get anywhere under 1" groups. I built this for a coyote gun in the fields behind my house.
I have everything I need to load ammo but I'm using factory match ammo as a baseline. 69gr federal smk is my go-to in my McMillan R700 bolt gun and I get sub 1/2 moa with it at all ranges I've tried so I'm hoping it performs well in the gas gun too. I also have a pile of Hornady 75gr bthp I'm going to try out although I don't yet know if it will be stable in the 1:8 barrel.
I need the weather to smarten up so I can get out on the bench to zero it and see how it shoots. I have a solid shooting bench behind my shop with targets out to about 500 yds, and my neighbor gave me a calf that died for bait. It's in the field at about 350 yds , I placed it right in line with my bench.
Haven't had much luck with the yotes this winter though, I think they've wised up to me. Only time I've gotten any is after dark with the ir scope. It's a 3-4 moa gun though, so not very precise. I need to put the ir optic on this new rifle after I get it dialed.

The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
I just added an eighteen inch At to the stable recently. One day I may take it that direction. Another accurate armory build. And also a new mark eighteen build.

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
A good barrel, a free floated handguard, and decent ammo and you are basically at the same place as the old spr. A lot of improvements have been made since the old mk12. I just like the vintage stuff so that's the direction I took. Nothing wrong with a lightweight handguard like you have there. How does it shoot?

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
I’ve only had it out once but it shoots pretty good. Got a one to eight scope on it.

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
I had a 1-6 on mine originally but it was a crappy vortex. Bad glass. I've got a 6-24 Bushnell Match Pro on it now. Great scope but heavy. The rifle is 12.5 lbs empty.
I'd like a qd optic mount so I can swap my ir setup on when the coyotes come in at night.

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
I have a bushnell match pro but it’s on a rifle that doesn’t fit this category. I’m really impressed with the quality of it. Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
I think it's a great optic. I have two in the 6-24×, and 1 5-30×. I'd like to try out the new one that is replacing the 6-24.

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
Finally took the mock12 out to zero today. -30 C but no wind and the wife and kids left for a ski trip.
Zeroed it for 200 yds with 69 gr match kings, destroyed the 6" head of one of my torso plates. No fine tuning for groups but it was satisfying to ring the steel with every shot. Feels good to know I didn't completely fuck up my build, looking forward to shooting at different ranges to figure my dope on it.

Re: The Black Rifle/Pistol Pic Thread
I think I’m done adding crap to my heavy hoe. I’d like a better bipod but it’s not terrible. The can is my first form 1 can. It’s all steel and heavy, but it does do a decent job of doing what it do.
