Looking to buy a .300 Blackout upper
Preferably from one of our local manufacturers that can make me a good deal on it. It will need the bolt carrier & bolt as well. Do I understand that these are the same parts as in an standard AR-15/M16 platform? Either a 1:8 16-18" chrome-lined chrome moly or SS barrel would be preferred, on a flat top upper.
Anone have any suggestions as to where to look or what specific parts to look for? I already have brass, dies, & bullets in hand (or will soon), what would be a really good source of load data for sub-, super-, and hypersonic loads? What powders are recomended? Any information that any of ya'll can share would be appreciated.

Re: Looking to buy a .300 Blackout upper
forgive my ignorance here but is the 300 blackout the same as the 300 whisper? I dabbled with the whisper for a few months and sold it awhile back. I have some reloading data for subsonic loads as well but have to dig it up of another computer hardrive.Wyldman wrote:Preferably from one of our local manufacturers that can make me a good deal on it. What's the benefit if the 300 BLK versus a .223?

AAC has reload info on their site.Just gotta hunt for it.You could find an upper and buy a barell cheaper than buying a "300".

Re: Looking to buy a .300 Blackout upper
it shoots the 7.62 (.30 cal) round from a necked down 5.56 case. So it has quite a bit more punch on impact although it is a slower round and the range is less. but use a suppressor and subsonic round and it is about as loud as a airsoft gun!BlackRifle wrote:What's the benefit if the 300 BLK versus a .223?

Also want to build a 8 in. PDW upper.
Re: Looking to buy a .300 Blackout upper
I dont know if I believe that personally.I dont think I would hunt with it.Its just a bigger bullet, not a WSM or something. It would be awesome CQB or medium ranges but I would question long range.busadave wrote:they say 300 will stop them in thier tracks at 200 yrds.

The furthest I've had to shoot, while hunting was approx 75m.Rext wrote:I dont know if I believe that personally.I dont think I would hunt with it.Its just a bigger bullet, not a WSM or something. It would be awesome CQB or medium ranges but I would question long range.busadave wrote:they say 300 will stop them in thier tracks at 200 yrds.

Re: Looking to buy a .300 Blackout upper
I've never seen Pigman shoot a 300 Blackout. He usually shoots an LMT AR in .308 or .223 and lately he's been shooting a custom bolt gun called the Twisted Pig .338 which is a .500 Jeffries necked down to .338. I think I do remember him talking about a .300 King Hog though, but I don't think it's the same as a blackout?busadave wrote:pigman show on sportsmans ch used one a while back.used hornady ammo and dropped a 300+ boar at 400 yards.i got alot of info from youtube also.(hunting with 300)just have to have the rite ammo.people said i couldnt take a deer with 223 ar but with the rite ammo i came home with one that afternoon.

Re: Looking to buy a .300 Blackout upper
I am also interested in the 300BLK. Most likely, unless I find a screaming deal, I will just build one. I just can't decide on what barrel length to use. I will eventually put a can on it, but that is a couple years down the road.
