need a barrel fluted

Post by kokopelli » Wed Jan 09, 2013 7:09 pm

Crank's mill isn't big enough...

I have a .920 bull barrel 16", for a 10/22. Carbon steel. Weighs 436 pounds.
I want to get 'flutes' milled into it to lighten the weight. Who can do this?

Thanks-

One of KACs gunsmiths does fluting and barrel dimpling. I've never used him but have heard good things. I'll look up the contact info.

If you can't find local try ADCO. They do good work.

Roman had a bigger mill but I do not know if he has a dividing head
I do have the dividing head and the tail stock but no mill that size.

What is this the Rosanne Barr of barrels?
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.
