Best place for punch sets and roll pin punch sets?
Looking for a good set of punches and a nylon/brass hammer for guns and general purpose use. Location and price range would be nice.

I appreciate the response Cranky and I know a lot of places that sell them but want to know where are good sets for reasonably priced sets.

Southern tool on poplar level road has a great selection of punches. Don't remember brand name (dasco I think), good quality at reasonable price.
Oh, how so high they fly........ only further to fall.

Craftsman stuff is over priced and it sucks! Harbor Freight has same quality, but cheaper.
Re: Best place for punch sets and roll pin punch sets?
I was just looking for some punches the other day for the same thing. Lowes has a set but they aren't many small ones. That set was$40 or so. Went to sears and their set only had five punches. Again one small one then jumped up in size. It was like $20. Never got to harbor freight. I will probably pay the price and order a good set from brownells or something.

I bought a cheap set from harbor freight years ago and it has served me well for several lowers. I have bent the two smaller ones but that is expected. I ould like a good set as well and brownells is probably the place to order online. Or Midway.

Did the same, 1/8 & 3/16 punch bent on first use. Bought a dasco set and been using them for over a year.Mike wrote:I bought a cheap set from harbor freight years ago and it has served me well for several lowers. Re: Best place for punch sets and roll pin punch sets?
Got tired of replacing bent and broken punches. The only ones I buy anymore are either Starrett, Mitutoyo, or off of one of the tool trucks, Mac, Snap-On, etc. Any kind of precision machine tools, likewise. The cheap shit just doesn't cut it.
Once upon a time, Sears sold good tools with a lifetime replacement warranty, now they sell Harbor Freight shit with the old Sears prices and a lifetime replacement warranty. You spend more in gas running back and forth getting broken shit replaced than it's worth.
