Slide milling

Post by guncrank1 » Sat Jan 25, 2025 8:10 am

I milled my first slide (FN-FNS) for a Holosun RRA
Used my rotary table and mill vise and Smithy , set up as a milling machine with a 3/8 ths bit.

Not finished yet just fitted plate to mill cut
The slide will get a dovetail and the plated screwed to that and then some JB professional epoxy glue as there is aluminum and steel .
Updates to follow

I’m confused. Why did you mill the slide for a plate instead of just milling the slide for the optic?
Just asking because I typically have a slide milled for the optic I’m going to use because I don’t like adapter plates. I have a slide that I’m going to get milled so as I figure out what optic I want to use for it.

Cause that was actually easier to do as there is no bosses require.
Plus client originally just want the red dot instead of rear sight. , he changed his mind and wanted suppressor sights and dot coaxial

Also the slide is not as wide as the Holosun sight
