Bought one from whittakers. And it has surprised me with how quick it can take a reading and how far it will range small things. Today while hunting there was a bird flying way out. It picked it up at 441.2 yards.... a bird on a blue sky. Deer at 470 not an issue at all. Have ranged signs and buildings to 1800. But haven't tried anything farther than that.

So what kinda price we talking here? I've got a cheap Bushnell 800yd one and I like it but since I don't shoot long range anymore it's only used for 3gun matches and 200yd deer hunting. I have trouble with doing sires at around 400, I can't keep it steady enough freehand.

I'd assume a bird in the sky would be pretty easy. Readers get confused when they get a lot of readings and have to decide which one is what you want... like ranging through the grass you're hiding in, to a man on a hilltop, with another hill behind him. I start having trouble ranging completely handheld around 600m and out, but 900m isn't impossible. That's using a Bushnell Elite.

The only thing I don't like about the kilo is no tripod mount. So I have been doing everything. Hand held.
Tried a turkey at 540 ish and it would not pick it up. On a flat field but I was looking into the sun this morning.
