Summertime Carry

Post by agisoec » Wed Apr 10, 2013 7:30 pm

Well, spring has apparently sprung and the weather's looking great. No more winter means no more over-shirts, no more jackets, no more overcoats, etc.

Was out working in the yard today, and got to thinking about carrying during the summer.

How do you carry in the summer (dress-wise)?

What's the best firearm for concealing in the summer?

I started carrying a S&W J Frame with the Barami Hip-Grip last summer.
Throw a Speed Strip in my pocket.
Most comfortable carry ever.

If I have to concealed carry I will do one of two things,

Throw on a large, short-sleeve button up shirt over the T-shirt I have on when wearing my outside the waist kit (this is usual) or change over to an IWB holster. Never found that to be extremely comfortable so I rarely go that route. Don't even remember who makes the leather IWB holster I have for the glock.

If I have to go 'deep cover' I will wear the Walter PPS in one of these:

S&W shield 9 IWB in a comp-tac CTAC. Perfect for summer carry as no sweat makes it to the gun.

Also carry M&P 9L with x300 OWB in a DSG alpha holster. Can actually hide it quite well if I want to.

All I have is a G21. And I'm a little guy. So I don't think it matters how I carry it. Hahaha
You seem to have me confused...

You don't need a black rifle to be cool, but it sure helps.

Either XDM 9mm compact IWB or S&W 642 in a pocket. Sometimes the XDM 4.5 rides OWB. Basically the same as my rest of the year carry.

I normally carry my Taurus PT-145 IWB year round. But I have been carrying my Glock 26 in my front pocket the last 2 weeks.

Comfortable is right.

I have a 649 with Barami Hip Grips and Tyler T, and a 642 with DeSantis Clip Grips--the former for when I want to go "old school" and the latter for when I'm feeling "new-ish school."

I carry a G17 in an IWB old faithful holster at the 4 o'clock position. Works well and easy to conceal while wearing a t shirt and shorts.

I iwb a full size. Beretta m9. I just put on a t shirt and don't really care if anyone notices. I don't like open carry but I've found it really takes very little to cover a gun. People just don't care what the bulge under your shirt is.
