You're worse than a woman buying shoes.
Okay, serious mode
Sometimes instead of trying to find the "perfect" gun maybe you sure pick one and then train with it and give yourself the time to get use to it.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

I've been very happy with the shield, but I agree it is too big for pocket carry...but I don't pocket carry.
I haven't tried anywhere near that many but for me the shield is where it's at.

Nice list, haha. I can add a little bit
I had a
kahr pm9 - the size was awesome, but i didnt shoot it nearly as well as a g26, it held less, was more costly, and i didnt have a holster for it. It was the best pocket carry gun ive ever had...but since i started carrying a smartphone i havnt had pocketroom for a gun...the phone gets the left pocket to avoid key scratches.
239 - it was single stack and big and heavy...and i didnt shoot the dak as well as a g26. I didnt want a dasa. The gun was really nice vs anything else ive had.
3" 1911 - i really like these. That is all. Mine was an al springer loaded. It was badass.
G26/27 - imo the shit...what i carry
Hk p2000 - super awesome....someone should buy the one i have for sale....seriously buy

I'll add one you should try.
Walther PPS 9mm.

I know you have had a 26/27 but it is my favorite carry gun but I carry bigger guns also such as .40 Sigs, XD9 and a few others over the years.

3" 1911 small gun... Some are finicky and one that is not is either a crap shoot or damn expensive.
G26 I like.... Too big for pocket carry in my book. Easily conceals in a good tuck able IWB holster
M&P shield... Pocket carry possible. Shoots great. Dislike the safety however the chances of accidentally engaging it are low.

I saw and handled the p290 today. Just too uncomfortable and blocky for me. Like the nano. I will have to look for a different 9. Was hoping this would be good for me too.

My shield is the best cc gun i have found thus far and like coach, I have tried most everything. My only isssue with the shield is the safety but i dont use it and like Todd said, it would be very unlikely to accidentaly engage it.
Its definitely not suited for pocket carry IMO.

Not really a pocket carry, but my Kahr CW9 fits most of the requirements.

You need to try the PPS. Mine is in 40 Smith, but it would give you an idea. Next time you are out this way let me know and I will throw it in the truck.

The g26 to me feels like the muzzle is trying to gouge my thigh. M&p9c was not like that. Come tax time I will look about for something smaller maybe shield or XDS.

I'm still looking. Thought the sig was it. It wasn't. Meh. Have the fun is trying new guns.
I also trade often and would rather hold, carry, and practice with a handgun versus simply relying on reviews and youtube videos. Thus far my Sig 238 (.380) has far exceeded any gun Ive owned in regards to weight, comfort, quality, and concealability.

Not having any experience with any of the Kahrs the Walther PPS is the smallest, thinnest 9mm I would recommend. Great little carry pistol.

Speaking of Kahr, I get to pick up a P9 tomorrow. Length wise it falls nicely in between my Sig P238 and my M&P9c, and it's thinner than both of them. Ive heard good things about the Kahr P series and they supposedly have a nice smooth trigger pull. I had thoughts of picking up a PM9 or a P380 simply due to their even smaller size. I'm hoping this satisfies my perfect CC quest, even if only for a little while.

I have been carrying the xdS the past few days. As far as comfortability it's awesome. Thin enough to disappear in a pocket or on the hip. Haven't got the range time in yet but I shall this weekend and first of the week.
