My son is taking Agricultural Economics at UK and as part of his courses he's starting a "farm" to sell fresh produce to local businesses to earn credits. We got the watermelon in the ground last night and hopefully we will get everything out of the make shift greenhouses and in the ground within the next week or two. Basil, watermelon, cantaloupe, asparagus, and other things I can't remember off the top of my head. He's really enjoying himself.

My Papaw never planted anything til the day after Derby.

I'd love to put in a garden, but it would just feed the deer.

And I took some garden damage from the hail. Bunch of those plants are missing an arm or leg.

I have realized that putting plants out before Derby just isn't a good idea for me. First the frost, then the hail. Most of mine took some damage as well but a few potted plants that were on the down wind side of my house were fine.

I took the planter out of the tree and hung them from eight foot tripods.

Took a few pics of the garden today.....

Planted a couple days after Derby.....kinda smal, but enough for us to keep up with.....planting some more corn and green beans on far end within next day or two, we didnt want all the corn and beans to be ready at the same time thus planting so far apart.....

Roughly 10 hills of watermelon.....8 hills of canelope.....corn, green beans, squash, tomatoes, carrots, okra, zukini (sp?) and a bunch of other stuff.....

Nothing fancy, but we will have some fresh veggies to eat soon.......some of the rows are really crooked cause we let the kids plant several rows, but they'll be fiiiine, lol

Ours is doing well, lots of fresh broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, zucchini, new potatoes, peas and a few green beans do far. Tomatoes and corn will be a couple weeks yet.
