Any Jeep owners here??

Doesn't fit in the other categories? Maybe just want to post up some humor or random happening? This is the place for it.

I enjoyed my 2006 Wrangler 4.0 in the snow (owned it in 2010). Had lots of electrical bugs though. It was the most work I'd ever seen a newer vehicle need. All my Toyota camrys and Ford rangers never needed so much. As a mechanic I never saw Wrangler owners bank accounts having a good time.
A cop stopped me on the street and said "we're looking for a mugger who fits your description" , so I said "okay I'll do it".

Add broken 4x4 shifter cable to the 2008 Rubi. It was fun being stuck in 4 hi on the trail a few weeks ago, even more fun when we needed to get home.

Have a 2000 Grand with 212,000 and a 2006 Grand with 209,000. Both have had typical Jeep issues. Front rotors, death wobble after lifting, alternators going out repeatedly, etc. Whatever idiots designed the electric shift transfer case on my AWD should have it shoved up his arse.... Can't shift it to low without popping fuse 25 and starting a couple times. Other than that, I'd buy another. Keep in mind both of these are lifted, see dirt and mud frequently and are definitely NOT mall crawlers. All that to say, I'd buy another if I had the chance. Maybe in Jan after I retire.....

To revive an old thread:

At the end of June we bought a 2018 Jeep Cherokee for my wife. Very nice vehicle, good interior. The exterior also has a good look. She is very pleased with it and has already put over 3,000 miles on it.

Yesterday we bought a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Big Bear edition. Really liking the vehicle.

So as of now we are heavy on cars/suv's, with a total of 5!!! Will be posting For Sale ads for a 2003 Ford Escape and a 2006 Mustang convertible in the next few days.

I am driving a Rental Wrangler with the 2.0 engine and this thing is a blast to drive. The radio has been going in an out and even made the clock go back to 12:00. I would love to have a toy like the Wrangler, but don't want a bunch of headaches.

2.0 aint gonna get you anywhere on the trails lol. In one of our past wheeling trips a friend of a friend brought his 2.0 wrangler....it struggled everywhere lol. Had some bigger tires and small lift but just NO POWER at all.

This one will FLY on the interstate. I took it to my farm this weekend and it did fine. When you put it in 4x4 Low it was a tank, but it was also really dry. I have a CAN-AM side by side for trails I would only use it around town etc so the 2.0 is all I would need.

Very true, I can't deny it. We did get the balance of the factory warranty and hoping we don't have to use it. But gotta admit, I am digging the Jeep :D

Jennifer sold the Escape today so that is one of our extra vehicles gone. Going to list the convertible Mustang tonight on Facebook Marketplace. Wish me luck!!!

V6 stang? what color? miles?
2006 Mustang V6 convertible

- 118,200 miles
- 4.0L V6
- Automatic transmission (transmission was just rebuilt by Wolford Transmission in Hodgenville as of 08/31/2019) Torque converter was replaced also.
*****Transmission has a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty that will transfer to the new owner*****
- Gray leather seats (power drivers seat)
- Ford factory Shaker 6-disc stereo system
- Ford 5-spoke 17" rims
- Cooper tires (Zeon RS3-4 235/55/17). Tires were installed in Oct. 2014 and have less than 10,000 miles on them
- New battery in Jan. 2019
- Oil and filter change in April 2019 at 117,753 miles
- New air filter and cabin air filter at 115,100 miles
- New front brake pads at 115,500 miles
- New rear brake pads at 75,000 miles
- New lower control arms and ball joints in Sept. 2014 (Big O Tires Etown)
- Alignment in Sept. 2014 (Big O Tires Etown) *****approx. 10,000 miles on alignment*****
- Car has a rebuilt title. We bought it in March 2007 so we have had it for over 12 years. Car came from North Carolina and had front end damage and the top was torn. The rebuild was done by a local father & son team who we have known for over 20 years (we have purchased other rebuilt cars from then since). The windshield was replaced by David Fields of Cecilia. The top was replaced by Meredith & Sons in Etown. When we bought the car in 2007 it had 27,750 miles on it. It now has 118,200 miles on it, so we've put 90,000+ miles on it in 12 years.

Asking $4950.

The "buy stuff for the new Jeep" budget just got bigger :) :D

I have had 2 rentals this year with the little crappy radio used in the Jeeps and Rams and they both cut out like that if a USB cable was plugged in.

Any Jeep owners here??

Post by ssracer » Sun Oct 06, 2019 3:10 pm

Going to have to let Kimber read through this thread when she gets home. Insurance is totaling her car and she’s back and forth between a newer Passat (her old one is a 2012) and a loaded 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with 95k miles that she test drove. The mileage alone had me concerned, although it’s apparently all been highway miles between NY and Connecticut.

Amazing how often you hear that. "But it was nearly all highway miles..." In my opinion, if not totally abused, a mile is a mile... The electrical gremlins that Jeep will likely have has no idea it ran the highway and not a mail route... Taxi, delivery, and local courier cars that are 99% stop and go usually have stupidly high miles with little to no problems or repairs other than lots of brakes. Like most of our delivery vehicles are scrapped around 300-400k at their 1st major failure, but mostly due to seats, doors, bodies just being flat out wore out and not worth putting in a new engine/trans/ect in them... And they are TOTALLY abused their whole lives usually. Just my 2 cents (about any vehicle) seeing all aspects of issues every day for the last 24+ years. Dealer, private garage and the individual owner doing the repairs in the driveway...
