I got one back in the winter and love it. I keep it on my end table in case I hear a noise outside while watching TV.BIGC wrote:86 slo-vo wrote:Got my new streamlight pro-tac 2L and new HL 540 lumen headlamp yesterday. Very nice.
let me know how you like that pro-tac, I have been thinking of ordering a few.
I drop it in a pocket when I am going to be out after dark.
Cutting grass is the price I gladly pay for not being cold.

Are you talking about the 2L or the headlamp?BIGC wrote:86 slo-vo wrote:Got my new streamlight pro-tac 2L and new HL 540 lumen headlamp yesterday. Very nice.

This is actually my second 2L, I bought the first well over 2 years ago and have carried it every single day since. Used the crap out of it. Atleast 40 sets of batteries through it.
The tail switch finally started giving out, so for the $45 for a new one I ordered it and will send the old to streamlight and see if they will replace it.
For the $45 bucks, I believe it is by far the best bang for your buck EDC light.

Yep that is what I was talking about. I thought of ordering a few so when I make my flashlight order I will definitely add a few of those on.

I need a new 2L myself. The one I have is now my wife's. I think the new ones are brighter than the old ones. My next light however is going to be the PTHL3 1100 lumens.BIGC wrote:86 slo-vo wrote:Are you talking about the 2L or the headlamp?BIGC wrote:86 slo-vo wrote:Got my new streamlight pro-tac 2L and new HL 540 lumen headlamp yesterday. Re: What did you pick up today?
Heat gun for easy froglubing and a Plano all-weather case for my AR. It's not a pelican but I'm fairly impressed for the price.

Re: What did you pick up today?
Yes very bad frog lube experience.
It was heating up, flowing into the firing pin channel and hammer spring area, and cooling down and thickening up to the point that I was getting light primer strikes. I only use it on rails now.

Re: What did you pick up today?
Where else were you using it? I used it on the rail channels, a little on the rails themselves and on the barrel

Re: What did you pick up today?
The slide and frame was heated up and it was applied all over the slide and frame by the previous owner. Before I shot it the first time I wiped it down so it had what appeared to be a very thin coat of lube. I had the issues the first time at tg&g. The gun was by no means wet with frog lube. This was in January and gun was not my carry gun at the time so it was cold from the car ride when I went in to shoot it. Wouldn't fire. Frog lube was sticky on metal parts that it soaked into. Armorer used a solvent on hammer and gun fired fine with no other issues. Second trip to range the gun demonstrated the same problems. Frog lube from first range trip was working it's way back onto hammer and firing pin.
I took it home and heated the gun, soaked it in degreaser, and the re oiled it with strike-hold and it has ran flawless for nearly 1000 rounds. I only use a small amount on the frame rails.
The problem is when the frog lube is warm it can flow where you don't want it and when it's cool, it is thicker.
