Not sure this was the best idea in the world and i dont like the fact that he drove off with our confirming he killed it. What say you?

He's an idiot and there was no reason to shoot the moose.......

Re: 10mm?
I have a firend who lived in alaska who to, d me that moose are very mean and aggressive. They will chase you off the golf course or if you are riding anything near by. The dad did the right thing in my eyes if nothing else to look out for his son who was riding behind him. It was obvious that the moose was in attack mode

Re: 10mm?
If it were me, I would of went around or backed up and took another route. What if that cow had a calf near by that she was trying to keep safe? There is a reason animals act like this and its not because they hate us.
Im all about hunting moose, but this killing was not needed.

I'll bet many of you wouldn't have an issue if this guy had shot a 350 pound human who was coming at him with a tire iron. A moose is more dangerous than that; whether you're killed by an evil human or an innocent animal...you're just as dead.
Not saying it was the best course of action, but I'm not going to second-guess the guy. If the shooter felt threatened he was within his rights IMHO.

Even armed, Im still not pulling up anywhere near a 350 pound person with a tire iron.Frailer wrote:I'll bet many of you wouldn't have an issue if this guy had shot a 350 pound human who was coming at him with a tire iron. The best course of self defense is to avoid any confrontation. This jack ass went head first into it. He had plenty of time to go around, change course.

I wasn't there, and it's tough to tell from the video, so I have no idea how dense the trees to each side of the trail were. Maybe he could have diverted course. Then again, he had his kid behind him to consider.
Again, not saying what he did was the best possible course of action. I'm just not willing to condemn his actions based on the information available.

There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.
Re: 10mm?
Looked good to me. I hate seeing any animal get shot but he tried to get him to walk away with no luck. I don't want to get killed by a moose. Not sure how hard it would be to go in reverse on a snowmobile.

Not sure any of you have ever been any where around moose. The first thing you will learn is if you come close to them they will charge. Same scenario but say the guy had no firearm: He would of turned around before making the first noise. If not he is stupid. If it were a grizzly he would of turned either way.
