Re: Guns in home increase suicide and homicide risk.
They really have to spin it to get to that determination don't they?
Since the suicide by gun rate is not up (even though the suicide rate is up slightly overall) I fail to see how they can come to this conclusion. Certainly if someone is committed to ending their life, and a firearm is handy, it MIGHT be they way they choose. But lots of studies over lots of years prove that suicide is not a gun problem, but a social problem. One needs only look at Japan and China for examples of this. If they are trying to say that there is an increased risk of successfully completing a suicide attempt if you use a firearm... well, then I agree.
As far as increased risk of violent death... really? More guns in private hands than ever in our society and violent crime is still going down.
it would also appear that this is not a 'new study' with new data. They cherry picked previous studies slanted their way and made determinations based on those studies. To absolutely refute every fine point in this catastrophe you will have to read each individual study they cherry picked and pick them apart.

Yep, its a true statement.
Also, gas hot water heaters and gas central heat in the house increases carbon monoxide poisoning risk.
Also, pet dogs in the house increases a dog bite risk.
Also, coffee tables in the house increases stumped toe risk.
Also, sweets in the house increases weight gain risk.
We can argue anything.

Don't forget having forks in the home can make you fat.

Having running water increases the risk of drowning.

Guns are used more as a suicide tool by gun owners than they are by non gun owners. Seems logical.
