New for 2017 Springfield XD-E

Picked this up a few days ago. The DA/SA trigger pretty much made this an easy decision. Shot great out of the box, went thru 8-9 mags of fmj over the weekend with zero issues. Plus I scored some goodies thru Springfields GEAR-UP promotion.

I don't really understand why they went back to a hammer...but to each their own. Wouldn't mind shooting one, but I don't see one replacing my G43

Makes no sense to me either.

Hammer-fired guns have advantages over their striker-fired counterparts. Every striker-fired gun's trigger sucks--some worse than others, but they all feel like a Nerf gun to some degree. It's inherent in the design.

I don't have a particular interest in these, as I have too much time and money tied up in Glocks, but I can understand its appeal. I certainly wouldn't object to test-driving one.

But I do agree, a hammer fired trigger is almost always superior in feel to a striker fired

I do like the trigger, striker fire handguns sounds like cheap plastic clacking on a dry fire, and even the best striker fired trigger is not as nice as a mediocre SA trigger IMO. The size also hit the sweet spot for me, it's between a G43 and a G19, and single stack makes it right in the middle width wise as well. I prefer carrying chambered and having a DA first shot just adds to my mental comfort. Considering size, weight, and general overall ergo's, there's probably not a better sub $500 option out there for me personally.

Triggers are a non issue for me. You pull, it goes bang. Practice , practice, practice.

Some of them do suck but unlike many in the gun world I can adapt. Besides for what a short carbine is typically used for I don't find most of their triggers to be an issue. I find that the trigger effects my handgun shooting more than it does in a short carbine.
