Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
I've never owned a glock so I can't compare the two but I love my 9mm shield. 8+1 and it's super thin. It has the trigger safety as well as manual safety. For some reason I like having the manual safety regardless if I use it. I use a cheap iwb holster and it suits me just fine. I'm sure others have used both and compare.

I vote shield. I just really hate the size of the subcompact glocks. To me they are not small enough to give up the magazine capacity and sight radius that their respective compact counterparts offer.

The shield for me! It's a lot easier to conceal and recoil is soft for follow up shots.
Kill em all and let God sort them out! <===== What a keyboard Commando like me would say. Mostly because I am frustrated with my lack of success with life.

This is funny because S&W claims it's their best M&P trigger yet.Coach wrote: shield IMHO had about the worst trigger of any of the subcompact 9mm out there. Its like pulling a spongy mess.

Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
All triggers on all new guns are shit until you break them in. Hell most new 1911 s' are breaking at around 6 pounds. Never buy a defensive hand gun and not put at least 200 rounds through it before the trigger even gets slightly better.
One thing that irks me about people who complain about defensive hand gun triggers is they want a target style trigger. I don't know why because that longer reset of a defensive trigger will help you more than hurt you.
Not pointed at you Coach just my point in general.

Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
I'm a trigger moron. Aside from the long pulling can't tell the difference. They are all fine. The exception being the XD trigger. It was uncomfortable. The Glock style safe action trigger pinched my finger or something. Glocks don't do that. No clue about XDMs and S's

I think the M&P's and Glocks both have equally terrible factory triggers. Just in a different way. As defensive gun I think both are fine for me. I have owned neither of these two but shot both and Shield is a million times better shooting gun in my hands. I'm no expert though.

Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
Weird. My Shield is smooth but a longer reset than my M&P. It was kind of "gritty" at first but wore smooth. Nothing like a Kel Tec though, way better.Coach wrote:Toddstang wrote:All triggers on all new guns are shit until you break them in. Hell most new 1911 s' are breaking at around 6 pounds. I don't want a target trigger. I want a smooth trigger. The shield trigger stacked. Glock is better IMHO but te solo or kahr trigger is much better

Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
I've got about 500 rounds through my shield and it's like butter. I put the duty carry trigger kit into my pistol about 200 rounds in and it made it 10 times better. I didn't complain before but the kit made it better. A friend purchased it for his pistol then ran into money trouble and let the pistol go. I paid $50 for the kit. Well worth it.

Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
the capacity of a g26 with +2 mag extension (which i need to grip it anyhow) is a huge force multiplier over 8+1, and seals the deal for me, also I find the glock very easy to conceal with a desantis pro stealth even in drawstring shorts, which means I always have the gun on me. I use the same holster and carry the g19 often also, which I shoot better with. Alot of people like the shield and seems like a good gun. myself using the g17 for a game gun and the investment/backwards compatibility of mags, as well as similiar manual of arms makes sense for me to stay with the glocks.

Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the M&P Compact be a closer match in size to a Glock 26 since the 26 is a double stack while the shield is a single stack?
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

You are correct. The Shield is thinner and shorter.WLJ wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the M&P Compact be a closer match in size to a Glock 26 since the 26 is a double stack while the shield is a single stack?
The M&P Compact is double stack while the Shield is single.
Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
I carry the Shield for non permissive environments, I like it and have 900 or so rounds through it. The trigger is fine for me, no complaints. I usually carry with the 7 round magazine in the gun and carry 2 spare 8 rounders. The 7 rounder gives me trouble sometimes when doing a magazine change, thus the 8s for spares.
I find it uncomfortable to only have 7 or even 8 in a defensive handgun. I usually carry my G19 and at least 1 17 rounder on the belt for daily carry. I'm not much on the little Baby Glocks, I've found that I can conceal the 19 just as easily as the 26. The 19 holds 5 extra rounds and is slightly easier to shoot.

Thanks Coach. If you have IG add me.Coach wrote:Opey BTW- your instagram is cool as hell!
Thanks for the replys. I haven't got to shoot a Shield yet but I do have very limited time with a Full Size 9 and Compact. The compact was new with a very bad trigger the fullsize had more rds on it and the trigger felt a little smoother. I have a G26 now but I find my self carrying it less and less (Bad Thing I know) I think this is do to two things the width and the grip angle. I just got my 1st 1911 and you can really tell the difference in the grip angle before getting the 1911 I couldn't really tell do to always having limited time behind other handguns besides my Glocks.

Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
i stopped noticing the difference in grip angle really quickly after owning both at the same time.
i remember trying to go thinner than a 26. it didnt work because i started on a 26 and shoot those the best/fastest of mini pistols. i quit trying to pocket carry and always iwb so i dont notice the extra mm or whatever of width much. dont really notice the extra size of a g19 either.

Re: Glock 26 vs M&P Shield 9mm
I have owned both and the shield is a much better fit for me. It's more comfortable to handle and carry. Very reliable and accurate for its size. Plus they are about 150 bucks cheaper than the Glock now.

I made a move and traded for a Shield, I have to say it has been awesome what little time I have had it.
