Reloading supplies in the Bluegrass. Where?
Reloading supplies in the Bluegrass. Where?
Just got into reloading in the last year. Been buying supplies from MidwayUSA mostly, while buying powder and primers from Sportsmans Warehouse. What are some other good local sources for reloading supplies? I haven't found many; Mike's down in Frankfort has a few things (not much at all), Evans on Southland.
Where else?

Evans has probably the most. there is a guy out in my neck of the woods that carries limited amounts out of his house so that is probably who I will be using.

Evans doesn't have much in terms of powder. They did have a decent amount of primers when I was there last week.Dave1965 wrote:Evans has probably the most. there is a guy out in my neck of the woods that carries limited amounts out of his house so that is probably who I will be using.

in general terms of reloading supplies, in Lexington, they have the most stuff I have seen.Bama wrote:Evans doesn't have much in terms of powder. The last time I was in Evans, I picked up some primers, some SMK and some Kimber mags. Place was a mess. I didn't get the impression that they had a whole lot; sportsmans has quite a bit usually. Guess I'm just looking for more local options. I'll have to swing over to Evans after work tomorrow. It's been a while.

I am in Mike's about every day, if you are looking for something specific, let me know and I will look for it and save you a trip. He has been having a lot of trouble getting anything, just like everyone else, but he is small store and will special order it right away if he can for you.Shortgrub wrote:You might try Mike's gun and archery in Frankfort. Dave, it's a stretch in today's marketplace, but I'd like to find a set of .223 dies and some small rifle primers. Got into reloading for my .308 last spring and have had awesome results. Got a varminter AR rig that's begging for some hand loads. Got it back before Christmas; at the beginning of the madness.

WWWJD, I will look today but its sparse and I have been looking for .223 dies myself.
My local guy (out of his house) had some small rifle primers. I guess it was a box of 5000 for $35 plus tax about a week or so ago. I can check and get them if you want them. I am in lexington a couple times a week. He also didn't have those dies but he had some bullets and some powder.

Preciate' it Dave. I'm gonna run over to Evans at lunch. I'll report back. If they don't have anything, I guess I'll just wait for a notification from Midway. I like Sportsmans, but they're on the wrong side of town for me here on Leesetown.

$36'ish per 1k. Standard asking price. They had others; The Federal and CCI were the only one's I put eyes on. I don't know if they had bulk pack of the CCI or not; all I saw were the 100ct cards.jmeister wrote:Is Fed primers all they had? How much per/1k?

Lol. Yea; for now, I'm on leesetown. Be moving out to Citation in March. Meant to mention: they also had 420 rd cans of M855 on strippers for $300. $0.71 per round... It's a bit rich. Just figured I'd throw that in here though.

if you ever find yourself in Bowling Green Ky. Gales on Morgantown Rd usually has a pretty good selection of reloading supplies. Don't even think about Gander Mtn. Quit carrying the stuff a few years ago.

Bought small pistol primers at Evans earlier today. With tax, the CCI no. 500 were about $40/thousand and there were at least 6 1K boxes on display. They seemed to have a good supply of the other common primers too.
