What to look for

I am considering picking up a 2007 Harley Davidson FLSTN softail deluxe. I have owned a lot of rice burners and crotch rockets, just never any cruisers. What should I be looking for that would be a red flag. Bike looks great. It's sitting at Louisville Harley Davidson. It only has 13,000 miles. Looks like new tires. I just don't want to get tricked by all the "purty chrome" and make a bad purchase lol. The asking price is $12,995. However, the salesman stated prices are not set in stone. Not sure what to offer for the bike. Is this a fair price? Like I said, I'm a Harley noob. Any advise would be appreciated. I'm posting a few pics. Image

I'd rather not pay for the HD name, because that's the only reason the price is so high.

I've had Hondas, kawasakis and a Suzuki. Wanting to try out the Harley brand. The price doesn't scare me away, as long as it's quality. I love the sport bikes from the previously mentioned manufacturers, but not a fan of any of the cruisers they offer.

I can't say the word Harley and quality in the same sentence but that's just my experience with the multiple owners over the years that tell me their horror stories but I will say they are brainwashed loyal Harley lovers. They really like the service department I guess because that's where they usually are and the Louisville shop on Arthur at is a huge ripoff crook station I witnessed myself.

I don't know what the Harley's do that the others don't except for that sound but reliability, price, weight, and smoothness I say all of the previous brands mentioned take claim to.

Harley is a breed of its own. Have never owned one. I guess its no different than brand loyalty in any other hobby though. Some cost more than others. Im not a fan of the foreign cruisers. Ive ridden a few, didnt really care for them. I may buy this hd and not like it either. Live and learn. Im just not into the sport bikes anymore, not my thing.

I don't know much about them either. I have always had crotch rockets. May look into a new harley, just for the warrantee and so I can put the first few miles on it. Won't be able to afford all the goodies this one comes with though. A lot to think about. Definitely getting one soon, just not sure new or used.

Yeah, been doing a lot of research. Pretty sure I'm jus going to pick up a 2014 softail deluxe. This way I get the warrantee, get to break the motor in right and I know how it's been treated. Something I plan on keeping, might as well spend the extra dough for new.
