Re: Ammo Boxes
Have you tried any of the Cabela's ammo cans? Being plastic, they aren't quite as tough as military ammo cans, but they generaly run a bit larger inside, have a nice gasketed seal, and stack just as nicely, with the added benefit of generally being cheaper (especially if you buy some ammo from Cabela's which, when caught on sale, can be a pretty good deal, especially bulk .22. Often they throw the can in for free.)
I won't say that I would prefer them over a proper steel .50 cal. can, but they'll do in a pinch....especially with the prices military ammo cans are fetching, now.

If you can get down to Nicholasville, there is a company down here that sells cans and barells(not to be confused with me..lol). But he usually has nice clean examples that are new.He was low the other day but he is expecting several pallets soon.I bought two big 30mm cans for $16(?) each this week.He usually has the SAW boxes which are a step up from the 50's.He had quite a few 30's.

Re: Ammo Boxes
I asked about ammo cans at 111 about 2 weeks ago. Guy said he had a pallet full in the warehouse, $5 a piece. I didn't see them, but he thought they were all .30cal cans. Don't know if he still has them or would honor that price, but it's worth a phone call.

I went from .30 cans to .50 (and 5.56) cans to 40mm to 25mm cans. Everything's full at the moment; there may be one of these in my future.kyswede wrote:I remember when all my ammo would fit in one of those. Now I have 2 of these.

Got mine at Lowe's for around $239 each. 2'x2'x4' long. recessed double padlock points, will hold .30 and .50 cal. cans stacked 3 layers high.Frailer wrote:I went from .30 cans to .50 (and 5.56) cans to 40mm to 25mm cans. Re: Ammo Boxes
A good friend of mine's dad worked there for about 25-30 years. It was called Worthington Steel, then one day they just told them they were closing the doors....... He told me at one point that they made the cans there...Toddstang wrote:I dunno?BIGC wrote:I thought they stopped being manufactured here when Worthington went out?Toddstang wrote:Whats sad is they are manufactured right here in Louisville on Fern Valley rd. and we cant buy them.

Re: Ammo Boxes
HEY GUYS AND GALS, I have emailed Black Ops military surplus and asked about the ammo cans and I am waiting to hear back from them. I asked them if they can make a deal if the cans were bought in bulk.
