I'm worried Obama will be re-elected and there will be an assault weapons ban. I wont have an AR before that unless I let my AK go. I don't think one is better than the other. I just enjoy shooting an AR more. If there is no assault ban I will have another AK down the line

Post SHTF, you can take ammo off of dead "Peacekeepers", where will a steady supply of AK ammo come from?

This is a good idea to keep both. The AR parts to pick up first would be a lower for sure then get you an upper. If funds are really tight piece your upper together instead of buying pre built and just get a lower and barrel. That would probably be about $250. Better yet get a polymer complete lower for $100 and start there. Just trying to help you out
