So basically once I draw my trust up and get it notarized. Then it is a legitimate trust right? Then fill out proper form for a sbr, send copy(or originals?) with $200 check and wait? Is this correct?

You can name your trust whatever you want.I would use initials to keep it short. This way if you do a form 1 for a SBR or something it is easier to engrave on th egun. Its a requirement to be marked by the maker(you) in the same manner as any other manufacturer. If you have some long ass name it will be impossible to fit it on the gun.

One copy is what you send in.You keep the original so you can add to it and continuoulsy update the schedule A to reflect these additions. Then just send copies in when you submit forms.

Sorry to hi-jack thread, but quick question on Trust.

So with a trust if I was to purchase a .308 can and had my father and brother on the trust would they be able to keep it at their house for use? Sometimes I shoot at my dads house, but wasn't sure if I could just leave it with him in his safe.

The way I understand it, as long as he is listed as a trustee, there should be no problem with his maintaining control of it. If others in the household have access to the safe, and they are not named as trustees, the NFA item would have to be locked in a seperate box (even inside the safe) to limit access by unauthorized individuals.

You should always keep a copy of the Form 4 with the tax stamp on it with the item. I make color copies, mark them as COPY (so no one gets wise and tries to yell "forgery" or "counterfeit") and keep that copy with the item in it's box at all times (you should keep the copy with the item when you take it out in public, too. Say at the range, for instance). I keep the originals in my lockbox with the original copy of the trust.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice, simply my understanding of the answer to your question.
