Lower caliber designation
On the form 1 it asks for caliber. Since this is on the form and has to be engraved on the receiver, am I limited to the caliber I can LEGALLY shoot with the rifle? I have my stamp listed for 30cal. IS it ok to run a short barreled 223 upper?

The only makers mark that is required is name , city and state.iron369 wrote:On the form 1 it asks for caliber. The caliber is made on the lower be the original maker, not by the Form 1 manufactor (you).
Unless you are the original manufactor.
So yes you, can legally shot a .223 upper

Re: Lower caliber designation
Multi will get you denied and in the back of the line when you resubmit. Pick a caliber, list it on the form and shoot whatever caliber you like once you receive your permission slip.iron369 wrote:The lower was marked as "multi". I saw it suggested several places to not put that on a form 1 so I didn't
There are some useful form 1 guides out there.

Re: Lower caliber designation
No you can change the upper on your SBR to anything longer or the same barrel length that is on your form 1. They dont worry about caliber unless its a permanent change. Then you need to send the ATF a letter to update the registry.
Like mine is a 7 1/5 5.56. So I have 10.5 5.56 and 8 300 BLK. I can swap them around as long as I can put it back to the original config.

Re: Lower caliber designation
So you couldn't use an upper with a 6" 300blk barrel? I don't think that is correct.Dustin wrote:No you can change the upper on your SBR to anything longer or the same barrel length that is on your form 1.
