On June 20th and 21st, the American Silencer Association sent six delegates to Martinsburg, West Virginia and Washington, DC to meet with the ATF and various Congressmen about your suppressor rights.

Look at the 30,000 forms in the boxes wow now I know why it takes forever

I like the idea of suppressors but do not like paying a penalty fee to conserve my hearing, make less noise pollution, and exercise my 2nd amendment. I still find it ironic you are required a muffler on your car but that logic goes out of the window on this topic.

Excellent video
I wonder exactly how much of a deterrent the waiting time is. For me it is a pretty good one. I would probably go the trust route and the e-file sounds like a great solution. I mean if you can get a .22 suppressor for 150 dollars plus the 200 dollar fee, that doesn't sound too bad especially if you could get it in a month turnaround time. Or if you just want to slap a pistol upper on your AR receiver to have an SBR, seems pretty easy to just then get it engraved. I am not a patient person.

I'd own a couple if it weren't for the wait

its worth the wait, just think if you would have bought one 6 months ago you wpould have it now and there cool. Most guys around here that sell suppressors will let you use it but they have to be with you and take it back with them. I know my guys does

Given technology the NFA branch could streamline the whole process. It's just a matter of want. We sure won't see positive changes to the process under the current administration. I'd also love to see the '86 ban lifted but I'm a dreamer.

It's nice that this is being looked at, but I wouldn't hold my breath for any changes to occur any time soon. BATF just isn't going to give up any kind of power or control for a little thing like our rights. I hate to sound like a naysayer, there is nothing I would love to see more than having most of the NFA overturned and silencers deregulated completely, but I just don't see it happening in our lifetimes.

Only reason I don't own one is that 200$ tax stamp

The reason I don't own one is the wait for approval. Don't get me wrong, yeah the $200 stamp kinda blows, but when you're spending $8-900 on a pistol can, or $1k+ on a nice rifle can, I can live with it.

I think these two organizations should put their resources together. The NFATCA has been meeting with ATF for several years now and improved several things. I dont really know why this one has gone all over the gun boards recently?
