I'm heading to my Grannies in Mississippi again at the end of the month and would like to take my .22 suppressor. Is that legal or what is a good source to find out 100% if it is legal or not? I don't want to lose my gun rights due to lack of knowledge. I'll leave here, go through TN and be staying in MS.

you have to submit a form telling them where yuo are going and duration. It has to be approved. I have no idea on turn around time.

Don't take it out of State without that form.

I thought suppressors were OK to take out of state. It was SBR's and the rest that you had to notify them about

Damn, their website is about the farthest thing from user friendly as it could possibly get! From best I can tell, SS and Viv are correct. I need to find out 100% and make sure both other states are NFA friendly also or it will stay here. I'm not going to take any chances if I can't find something on their site to have handy if any issue were to come up.

Note suppressors (and AOWs) don't require permission to transport out of state.

Frailer is correct. I would, however, make sure I had a copy of the form 1 or 4 with the tax stamp on it, just in case. My originals never leave the safe, but color copies, marked "copy" (so some smartass doesn't try to accuse me of counterfeiting) are always in my shooting bag with me. Other than that, as long as the intervening states legally allow private possesion of suppressors, there should be no issues. Just stay the hell out of IL.

The rule that Failer referenced deals with commerce, as do most gun laws but still applies.
Cans are firearms, first and foremost.
Niceguy , when going into TN be carefull. Have the can locked in a case in the trunk.
A licensed FFL/SOT got in a world of trouble in TN by parading around with a rifle with a can. It was even cased.

As with a concealed gun, keep it on the down low.

I will definitely do that. I'll probably just take Colt 1911-22 or 22/45. Don't really want to mess with luging a rifle around. As to my CC gun, I like my 6rd Rossi .357 snubbie for now...

I thought the form applied to all NFA items.

It never hurts to pick up the phone and call the nfa branch but I would also ask them what section of code applies.

ATF's answer was you have to get written permission just like SBR, SBS or full auto. Right or wrong, not taking a chance. If that ATF person interpreted that way, the one that possibly were to deal with me in the event I got pulled over for it could also. I like being semi-free so it stayed home...

They interpret their rules as they see fit, usually to constrict you as much as possible. That's the whole problem w/BATF, IT'S ALL IN HOW THEY CHOOSE TO INTERPRET THINGS AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. Nothing is ever spelled out so as to make any kind of rational sense.
