Raising the price of stamps will just further peoples want to send emails instead of actual letters.

The main reason that USPS be losin' their collective shirts, cause they sure as hell can't compete with UPS, FEDEX, OR DHL. Postal mail was thier only hope & they sure loused that up, but good!

Rates are going up again in Jan, FYI
Hell I'd be good with them cutting back to MWF delivery. Most of it is junk mail anyways, which is really what drives their business. You think a private company would delivery to any & every household in the US 6 days a week for roughly 45cents per item & way less for bulk/presort?
What's really surprising is that Congress hasn't found a way to pillage that $11 billion surplus yet

Same thing happen to them in the 60s and 70s that happen to the american car industry. When UPS and Fedx started they should have crushed them on price and service, just like when the Japs started shipping cars in. But they like the big three thought we are to big and the People love us. To late now. .45 cents to mail a letter is freaken outrageious.

its all due to the system they created, especially the union system.
My friend works for them and the job is ridiculous that he has and the definition of what he is supposed to do and the amount he gets paid.

I rather like the postal service myself. I mail quite a bit of mail. Be weird to see what will happen if the postal service does go under.

I've ordered stuff off Amazon where one order was shipped UPS and another USPS both coming from the same warehouse in Indiana. The UPS shipment came straight to Louisville and got here the next day. The one shipped USPS went to three difference states going thought at least 6 sorting stations and took almost two weeks to get here. Now think about that for a moment, how many more hands did the USPS shipment have to go though? Despite costing about the same in paid shipment cost I would be willing to bet the USPS one lost money. How many more hands that are all earning wages plus a pension did it go thought, how much more gas moving it around, how many more location that much be maintained? If the USPS was anything but a govt run entity it would have disappeared long ago and people would have used it as an example of how not to run a business. But no, the govt keeps pumping it up with our tax dollars, nothing the govt runs is allowed to fail. we'll just squeeze the tax payer a little bit more. And the postal union keeps riding the gravy train, resisting any attempt at all levels to streamline the process and cut costs. Don't take this as union bashing, unions are like beer, some beers really taste bad some taste great. Unions are no difference, some good, some bad.

Yeah, but imagine how valuable they would become, I bet a lot more than a penny. Anyone want to buy some Twinkies?

Not sure whether or not to put a llama here.
