TL/DR
I tried to read that but it's like listening to President Obama speaking.
I work with several guys on the SWAT team. I'm glad they are there because they are needed. They keep people from getting killed, on both ends of the spectrum. This isn't the 1960's anymore. Times have changed. Techniques have changed. Things evolve.

To be fair... our LEO organizations are based off a para military structure to begin with, which is also one of the best company business structures ever designed.
At the end of the day, if you want to have LEOs that are worth a damn, a little militarization isn't really bad thing in regards to physical and mental discipline, customs and courtesy, and professionalism.
