Rendering aid to someone you just shot, duty to or not
Rendering aid to someone you just shot, duty to or not
During a front sight lecture, we were told you have no duty to render aid to a aggressor you just shot, now I remember when a LAPD officer was sued while he was guarding one of the bank robbers who was down and bleeding, I think the officer prevailed in this case, but I wonder how Kentucky law would view this?

Unknown on what law says.
From a moral code , I have little to no desire to kill a human.
I only carry a weapon to protect myself and my family from threats, nobody else.
If a person wishes to be a threat and lethal force is nessecry , I have no moral problem with using that force to end the threat.
After the threat is over I may decided to render aid or not.

Not 100% sure but i remember in First Aid training i was told you have no obligation to render aid to anyone. So im not sure it would be any different in a situation where you shot someone while defending yourself.

You have no legal obligation to render aid and personally I have no moral obligation either. All they are getting is a 911 call and that's to cover my ass, not their's.

A fellow EMT was charged by the Kentucky Board of EMS with failure to render aid to a person (he beat the crap out of), I mean had to defend himself against and physically restrain to prevent further harm, while in a bar off duty. He ultimately was not disciplined but had to defend himself against the charge, it was still a pain in his A$$ for a while.
Professional License has some added responsibilities. I am not aware of any legal responsibilities to render aid.

No need to provide aid to someone that is already dead!

If I am not mistaken, it is police procedure to handcuff to secure a suspect for safety measures. I wouldn't have cuffs so I would be busy calling 911 to report an assault against me (victim). I also would be covering the POS (assailant) assuming that they hadn't begun the trip to room temperature.
