As a note, "Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which states that an attack on one Ally shall be considered an attack on all Allies," was used to call all NATO countries to action after the 9/11 attacks on us.

I am sure some of you youngsters don't remember our war planes being told to fly around France to get to their targets.
Don't hate too much.

I remember that incident very well. The planes in question flew a different route than was publicized.

The whole story wasn't told.

Nato 'stands with France'
Nato Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the Atlantic defence alliance would stand with France "strong and united" against terrorism:
Quote
I am deeply shocked by the horrific terrorist attacks across Paris tonight. My thoughts are with the families of the victims, with all those affected, and with the people of France. We stand strong and united in the fight against terrorism. Terrorism will never defeat democracy.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel says she is "deeply shaken by the news and pictures that are reaching us from Paris". The German leader issued a statement saying her thoughts were with the victims "of the apparent terrorist attack".

The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

A video has been posted on Facebook that apparently shows The Jungle - part of the Calais migrant camp - on fire.

We have not verified the footage at the moment.

It isn't over. A new report said someone just drove by a bar on a scooter/moped/motorcycle and fired on people outside the bar as they passed.

We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.

A guy in the private security world said the unarmed security team got all of the band off the stage immediately and used an emergency exit to leave. That's just a guy that says something though, so we'll see.

You referring to the Great Britain based F-111s that had to go around France during the strikes on Libya back in the 80s. You do know France is an independent country which means they are free to do what they want with their airspace? They're not a puppet state. And that was 30 years ago? Hope you are aware France has been leading a lot of anti terrorist strikes the last 10 years including putting boots on the ground in many places which is one of the reasons they're the target for many of these attacks.
oh do you mean the newspaper that published the never before seen pictures of muhamed (yeah I know its spelled wrong, NFG)

Eagles of Death Metal update
The Atlanta Journal Constitution, quoting the brother of the band's drummer, reported on Friday night that all band members escaped the concert hall unharmed. The paper identified the drummer as Atlanta native Julian Dorio.
"They saw a man with a machine gun just opening fire," Dorio's brother Michael Dorio told the newspaper. Michael Dorio said his brother told him band members hit the floor when they spotted the gunmen, then ran out a backstage door.
They dashed to a nearby police station, where Julian Dorio borrowed someone's cellphone to call his family in Atlanta, Michael Dorio said.

Paris isn't France--just like New York City isn't the USA.

I think the French are weird, and they wear their pants too tight, but I also know they threw me a July 4th celebration at an outpost in the middle of nowhere. As such, they're OK with me.

President of France calls it an act of war, says it will be merciless war (paraphrasing)

Wonder if they mean "just inside their country" or they will actually head out to meet ISIS where they spawned.

Good luck with that.

ISIS, the various Al Qaida, AQAP, etc. are based on an idea, and that idea is, "You deserve a better life than the one you have--and more respect than you get."

While this argument works best in places where peoples' lives really do suck, there's no shortage of people around the world who feel that way.

Notice how the number of people who think their lives sucks is steadily increasing here? Not because, in most cases, they actually suck but because that is what is pounded into their brain by the media, politicians, and colleges day in and day out.

They have boots on the ground in several countries and have a history of being quite ruthless when it comes to it. Been doing airstrikes in others as well. But you need to get out of the American media loop to hear anything about it. Their resources are way smaller than ours to do so but that doesn't mean they've not been doing anything.
