The World according to Larry Vickers.
1. LAV considers the Eotech, at best, a 3-gun optic. Not ready for prime time.

I like the LAV as much as anyone but he is full of himself and sometimes shit too.
FWIW he was a badass back in the 80's, pretty sure no one was rockin red dots back then.
E vs A, all breaks down to preference.
Both have pros and cons.
Also asking the LAV about Aimpoint competitors is like asking him about DD competitors.

Never used an aimpoint, but I'm thinking about a micro for the SBR. I love my EOTech, wide open view, easy to use with both eyes open. It's just big because I'm rocking an old 512

I've used all 3 (acog, aimpoint, eotech) and I think in general, the eotech is the clear winner. It looks nice. It faster to acquire the dot with big circle and the circle gives you hold off and ranging abilities. The lower sitting and less tubular body frees up peripheral vision. New versions with super long battery life make the battery issue insignificant. Add a magnifier and it competes with the acog in distance (however I'd say it looses it still competes)

Battery life insignificant?
I love the ability to leave an aimpoint on 24/7 for years on end vs an eo that.stays on for 4-8 hr
I do like the eo reticle more, especially the zombie model (haha), and the shrouded adjustment knobs.

Isn't the model 516 eotech 1100 hours battery life?

Or were you talking about time til it automatically shuts off?

I heart my H1. Those things are great. No substantial weight penalties, little visual obstruction. I leave them on all year and change batteries on my birthday.

I think I like my aimpoint micro over anything else for closer red dot shooting. It's built like a tank and does what it is supposed to do. I really like my ACOG as well, but it is not as fast as the aimpoint.

My 512 was great for me. AA batteries are easy to find. I would keep it til it falls apart, but my astigmatism is getting worse, and plays hell with the reticle.

I have a 512 w/ 3x magnifier on my 556 and love the combo.
And you can flip the magnifier out of the way in a second.
Or completely remove it in 2 seconds.

I bought an XPS2 to replace my buddies Aimpoint Comp M2 that I was borrowing until he built another AR. At first I was disappointed as the reticle was very indistinct even on low power, but I used to be very near sighted. Then I got LASIK, and now my Eotech is leaps and bounds better.
Moral of the story, your $500 optic doesn't work? Spend another $3k on LASIK.
