Re: Night Vision Scope (Monocular)
Scope picks up background light on Ferndale road, saw clear across the street at lot across from the machine shop.

Re: Night Vision Scope (Monocular)
How does this do with very little ambient light? Still clear? And To what distance?guncrank1 wrote:Scope picks up background light on Ferndale road, saw clear across the street at lot across from the machine shop.

This needs a IR source to really seeDDgunslinger wrote:How does this do with very little ambient light? Still clear? And To what distance?guncrank1 wrote:Scope picks up background light on Ferndale road, saw clear across the street at lot across from the machine shop.

It will pick up some image but faint.
Since my main goal is coyote hunting I am going to country to try it out at night under fire
with a heavey shot shell.

Low ambient light level, maybe 150 feetDDgunslinger wrote:How does this do with very little ambient light? Still clear? And To what distance?guncrank1 wrote:Scope picks up background light on Ferndale road, saw clear across the street at lot across from the machine shop.

Re: Night Vision Scope (Monocular)
Moved laser to rail on monocular
Co axed with red dot
Moved light to a temporary barrel mount.

Re: Night Vision Scope (Monocular)
That's fairly typical of the Gen1 tubes. They called the PVS-2 a "starlight scope," but you really needed moonlight to see anything. Even then the image was often grainy and lacking contrast. The move to Gen2 was a *huge* improvement.guncrank1 wrote:This needs a IR source to really seeDDgunslinger wrote:How does this do with very little ambient light? Still clear? But these work just fine with an IR light source, so for your intended use I think you got a bargain.

It was more but I redeemed a few points

Finally made it to country
Truck got stuck and still is on a rough rip rap road
Have to pull it out with a tractor tommorow.
Fired four shells of #2 1/18 oz 2 and 3/4 inch magnum shotshell
About 8:15 pm central time
First shot missed
Second shot hit mostly dirt. And imaging focus assembly came loose under recoil.
I had adjusted it out to much
Removed fuzzy red dot and used laser mounted to accessory rail of scope.
Third shot moved monocular back and got scope eye.
Move up on rail and took off rubber boot.
Finally had a long relief and focus adjusted correct .
Hit the target and I could see it from the house lights at about 30 yards.
House lite and light outside was low ambient.
Used IR on NV and hit target as seen in picture.
Could see with the laser reflecting from paper

Re: Night Vision Scope (Monocular)
Talked to a client last night in office.
He was interested in my NV and we discussed use and a scope for a couple of his guns.
He said that you focus the front on the light emitter /amplifier and the back eye piece is for the finial focus.
Since this is my first NV device I learning on these as I go along.
I think I will invest in a riser block and use my other red dot instead of the Leapers brand.
I also found a source for IR lights
