Shooting gloves
So I have been eyeballing some shooting gloves lately and having trouble deciding. I tried on the oakley gloves at Open Range. The hard knuckle gloves didn't fit me. Medium was too small and large had too much slack in the thumb and the ring finger was too tight. They had soft gloves that I liked much better but the fit issues were the same.
I checked out some by Hatch at bluegrass uniform both the hard knuckles and soft. They fit great.
I put on some hard knuckle blackhawks at US cav and they fit good but the thumb seam literally split when I made a fist. Ripped right open. The blackhawk soft gloves were loose on me.
So I am leaning towards the soft Hatch gloves or just a set of mechanics quick on gloves with no velcro. I don't need hard knuckles but I'm not against having them.
Anyone have any suggestions before I spend.

Re: Shooting gloves
Hatch makes good stuff. Can't go wrong there. I've just been using some Mechanix Mpact tactical gloves. They probably aren't as durable as the hatch, but they are relatively inexpensive. And I've even using their gloves in the garage and yard for years

Re: Shooting gloves
Yeah I was worried the mechanix wouldn't last so long. My last pair lasted me about 5 years. I don't mind spending the loot if I can get some mileage out of them.

Re: Shooting gloves
oakleys are overpriced, but they are good for warmer weather, i can't use them in colder weather
i just picked up a new pair from a LE supply store, not sure of the brand but they fit good and seem to be well made for just under $40
i will let you know in a month or two when i get some use out of them, mine get used fairly hard being on a Bradley crew

Re: Shooting gloves
Sounds good.
I would just buy what I had previously but I can't find them anymore. They were soft padded dirtbike gloves. Had a nsn. Issued item.

Re: Shooting gloves
My hatch soft knuckle ones are holding up better than anything I have tried so far and I have a much better tactile feel with those (no finger cutting needed).
Have a pair of voodoo tactical ones I got from somewhere and the seems are coming apart already (about 3 months).

Re: Shooting gloves
I like Mechanix, I am currently using SKD's PIG glove and like it so far but we'll see how they hold up.

Re: Shooting gloves
I have the skd as well but have only used once. Thy fit my hands which are large and thinner perfectly but they are stretchy so fatter fingers should fit as well. Awesome fit but feel thin and that means durability will have to be proven.325MOUTguru wrote:I like Mechanix, I am currently using SKD's PIG glove and like it so far but we'll see how they hold up.

Re: Shooting gloves
+1 for Hatch
- 1 for Oakley
Undecided on Outdoor Research and Mechanix
... Next up for me will be the SKD brand.

Re: Shooting gloves
Try and find them to fit women....i like motorcycle gloves. Well vented, comfy and a incy bit if padding. Just my 2 cents

Re: Shooting gloves
Mechanix gloves -2
I had a pair when I went to Iraq. They lasted MAYBE two months. The seams started busting out in 3 places. I forget what brand they were, I know that assessment is useless. I won't ever buy another pair for anything.

Re: Shooting gloves
I use them for dock work and they tore up fast and my fingers came out of the end of the gloves on both hands.Jakob wrote:Mechanix gloves -2
