Starting from scratch
I want to get set up with options for carrying my "stuff". From looking at other threads, I think I want to go with handgun, handgun mags and a light on a belt rig (probably with suspenders to help with moving with the weight) and AR mags and another light on a vest (and possibly hand grenades ). Will you all steer me towards brands and styles that work for you?

as a quick grab and go they are hard to beat. Pistol, couple of pistol and rifle mags, snap it on and go

My evolution in gear has led me to using my CCDW daily carry rig
Crossbreed style holster
Dual mag pouch
Double thick leather gun belt
Pistol with weapon light
4 inch blade knife
LCP in the pocket
when the rifle is brought out of the truck I tuck a dual mag paddle holster in the belt , that with the 1 in the gun leaves me setup to run most drills and to do most anything a person like me would need. Rifle has a light on it all the time, and a micro red dot.
My chest rig has has armor, 8 mags for the rifle, 2 for the pistol, med kit, water, smoke grenade and my radio.
A shoulder bag is more suited to my needs, 3 magazines, batteries, bright light, Med kit, E&E kit, anda few other nick nacks.
I have pretty much ditched the military gear for all but the most extreme situations. My chest rigs always end up hauling more gear tham I had needed, if I was to buy anouther it would be the spec opps 3 mag chest rig with nothing else on it and I would again use it combined with my CCDW rig.
