Cleaning with a compensator

Do you remove your comp every time?

I've got a Tandemkross comp on my 22/45 Lite. Today I started keyholing. Decided to take the comp off and inspect it. It was perfectly clean, no strike marks whatsoever. Gun still keyholing. Upon closer examination, I've got some fouling right at the end of the barrel that I think is causing the issue. The gun was clean too(or so I thought).

It looks like I will have to take the comp off every time I clean to scrub the face of the barrel. What do you all do? Is this the norm?

I usually clean mine after every use.
Are you using the cheap lead 22 stuff or the good plated ammo?
I noticed mine keyholed slightly on the cheap lead stuff and stopped shooting that right after.

First couple hundred rounds were lead nose Remmington thunderbolts(gun s only got a couple hundred rounds in it). Those are finally gone and I'm on to Winchester 333s. They look copper washed.
I may take the thing off if it causes problems. I don't think it does much of anything. I got it because it looks cool.

I got comps on everyone of my .22 pistols (same reason as you, they look cool. The Volquartsen forward blow comps make .22lr hearing safe in my opinion though.) and had no issues with any of them. I hardly ever clean them.
