Need a sight for a MkII

Post by Vividia » Sat May 19, 2012 11:16 am

Hi gang -

I have a Ruger Mk II, bull barrel, VQtrigger and comp, with an UltraDot sight. Really sweet shooter.

I enjoy shooting it, but between the bull barrel, the comp and the UltraDot, the darn thing weighs about as much as my AR15. I find myself passing it over unless I shoot it early on shooting days.

My question, I am thinking about removing the UltraDot and putting some sort of reflex/holographic site on it to lighten it up some. I don't really know anything about these things since I shoot with iron sights on everything I own except for an eotech on the ar15 and a scope on the .308.

Suggestions on a nice sight to put on it that won't weigh a ton? I plan on keeping it for a long time, so on this project i subscribe to the buy once theory rather than start small and work up LOL.

Thanks for your time and suggestions.

Or another option would be the Ruger Lite! Only 23 ounces and an awesome shooter.....threaded barrel for comp or suppressor.....mine is still new, but I have shot a little over 300 rds thru it and no complaints so far....will be shooting it later today!

I mounted an aimpoint h1 on a 22/45 to play with at the range once. I liked that. I havnt seen a smaller optic that was as bright as an aimpoint, for bright sunny days the aimpoint was nice. I realize that is an expensive option, but they have a lot of advantages.

Fast fire , best price for durability , and after all it is a 22 pistol so most anything should serve the gun well for a very long time.
