Winchester 24" Super X2 turkey gun

Post by Geno » Sun Aug 24, 2014 12:18 am

I just picked up a do all semi shotgun. It is a Super X2 turkey gun 24 inches, has all the chokes. I figure as a gas gun it is supposed to shoot 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 inch shells. It is a utilitarian black synthetic stocked piece. I intend to add an extended mag tube an probably a modified choke for buckshot and other smaller shot. Anyone have one or have had one? Ideas?

If you intend to use it as a hunting shotgun be mindful of magazine capacity restrictions while hunting.

Never shot turkey. Are shorter barrels recommended?

Shorter barrel for compactness , but my turkey gun has 24 inch barrel and the bird never paid any attention to it when he got blasted last spring.

This one won't be used for hunting game animals. Just stuff around the property that doesn't belong or shouldn't be there. Is the action a sound one to work with?

18" barrel is only good for less than 40 yards.
If this is just a turkey gun I would leave it as is.

Ahh not always true.
Some turkey gun have 20 inch barrels that are good for 60 or more yards.

It depends more on the choke and the bore than the length .
And the weight and size/density of ejecta , buffer material and wad design and shape, powder charge and pressure.
