Nice pistols. I had one with the wood grip. I still regret selling it.

Wish this one had the wood grips. I would be on it like fly on..... Still wondering if $1500 is a little stiff. No box... But was his FIL bought new.. Made in 81.. I was born in 81.

Pythons are a weird collector gun to follow. I have watched blued models easily go for $2500+ in the right barrel configuration, while others that seem as nice or nicer sit at half that price. Some barrel lengths sell really quickly while others seem to not really sell. The prices are all over right now and I think they are way over priced. Which is why I still don't own one.

The one you are looking at is so similar to the one used in Walking Dead that it would probably be pretty popular. I think that model has the 6" barrel though?

Wood stocks can easily set you back $250 right now as well.

Older thread but I'm gonna chime in here. Semi-classic wheel guns are a weird niche in the collecting race. The Pythons are the flagship for Colt's, and they are considered to be the be-all and end-all of modern spinny guns. I don't get this. I've had the chance to play with a few (thanks to my dad's appetite for collectibles) and I just don't understand why they are so sought after.

I understand the hype behind the whole "hand built" aspect of them, I just don't know if they are as great as the market seems to think. I've seen and handled a couple that were definitely beautiful, the blued variants have a finish unlike anything I've ever owned (stainless is meh). I find full underlug revolvers to be a bit muzzle heavy, I prefer a wheel gun that sits low in the hand.

Personal preference, but I'd rather have a Smith in .357 or .44 Magnum of the same vintage.

Just my 2 cents, take it or leave it. I'm no expert.
