Just want people's opinions on the most accurate factory 9mm handguns. Keep cost under $1000. stay away from custom makers.

Can anyone say that the barrel of an xdm is a serious improvement over an xd barrel?

I'm pretty accurate with my fnx9. Not saying it's the best but pretty damn good out of the box.

Im accurate with my XDm. I have also shot the XD and it just felt different. Not saying it isnt just as accurate or almost as accurate. Just had a different feel to it. IMO most guns are only as accurate as the shooter, esp factory. The most accurate gun i have shot was the browning hi-power in 9mm. Just picked it up ands started plinking 6" steel at 25 yds like a boss.

If I were just going to shoot groups with match ammo I'm just wondering if there is a factory gun that stands out from the rest or is a custom fit match barrel pretty much a given.

For under a $1000 you could buy a good gun and with little work make it a great gun... M&P, XD, Glock, 9mm 1911, whatever feels best to you. I suck with a Glock (I shoot a Hi Point better! haha), some people shoot Glocks like a champ! I think it comes down to what fits you best more so than the quality of the gun... I'm not saying a decent gun doesn't help though.

Which model??
Unknown
From my experence older model Sigs

The tighter the fit of slide to frame
Barrel to bushing/hole in slide fit
Tight fit in lock up
The trigger break

These are what make a more accurate pistol.

My xd has always been a sloppy grouping gun. I can stack rounds on top of each other with my sig229. I was thinking of going with a 226 but I like the xdm5.25. I was just reading about how the springfield xdm match grade barrels don't perform as well as an aftermarket match grade barrel. So in that case a xd9 Tacticle makes more sense because I already have a xd9 service. I could just add a match grade barrel.

I can outshoot my xd9 service. I probably can't shoot beter than my p229. I'm not sure about my beretta yet because of the ammo shortage I've only put about 500 rounds of cheap 115gr through it.

I shoot best with my xdm.
Over glock, beretta, colt, sig.

Factory trigger feels best out of all my guns except 1911's

Probably just about any they make.
I consider CZs the best commonly overlooked handguns.

I don't believe that Glocks are supposed to be the most accurate but I am most accurate with them for whatever reason and it isn't because I grew up with them because I didn't. I will say the best 45 I ever shot was an HK 45c that a member here let me shoot.

I know you are asking about 9mm but I only through the 45 comment in as extra info in case that brand specifically kept coming up then you would know it is accurate all around instead of between models.

A lot of it is how well it fits you hand.

I have better accuracy with any semi-auto that runs in single-action as compared to striker fired design.

I shot decent groups with my XDm 9mm, but I was always low and left unless I was slow and deliberate with every round.

I am just so used to the Glock grip that the XDm is awkward enough to throw me off.

XDm might be worth a look. I have a Storm Lake barrel for the Glock that has tighter tolerances (and can shoot lead bullets through) that gives me much better accuracy than the factory barrel. If you like Glocks, that option might be worth a look and is way under your budget.

I would have to give this a +1 also. Very new to the CZ world, but I love my new to me P-07... Feels amazing in the hand and shoots good at steel. I haven't had a chance to put it on paper target to see how tight a group I get though.

Was that a drop in or custom fit? Was the difference immediately noticeable or only noticeable when closely examining group size?

I do like the looks of the cz guns. I may have to see how they feel. I have shot metal framed da/sa guns by far the most and I shoot well with them.

Groups were noticibly tighter at 7 and 15 yds.

Been awhile so I am sure I don't have pictures.

It is a drop in replacement barrel.

One of the best feeling pistols I've ever had in my hands outside of a 1911. JMB built 1911's specifically for my hand though! haha
