Mosin replacement stock

I posted in the Pit, but I thought maybe I might get a response in a seperate thread, so.....

Does anyone have, or have experience with, the ProMag (shudder) Archangel Opfor stock for the Mosin Nagant rifles? Are they any good or should I just run? I have a chance to get one fairly cheap, and like the idea of a 5 or 10 Rd detachable magazine, but ProMag, I just don't trust.

I will get one someday, I have heard only good things about them. I had the 556 stock for a 10 22 and it was very nice.

How can you effectively use it as a club or hammer if you remove the indestructable shroud of comradness from this tool?

I have never had one that did not require some "fitting" and if a stock is drop in free
Then it is sure going to be a accurate one :llama:

Might be out of line, but if you're not interested, I am. Could you pass on the deal to me? I like to use my Mosin to mess around with. It's utilitarian, kind of like vice-grips. You can do all kinds of stuff with vice-grips.

It's not out of line at all, except I was offered this stock by an individual here in Spring who wants me to install an SRT trigger in his P220.

FWIW, while I was checking prices on this, I found CTD had them for $135, & Amazon had a package deal for the stock, a scout scope & mount, and other stuff for just over $200. Stocks are available in black, desert tan, & OD green. The one I was offered is green, and didn't look bad at all, but I would have preferred the tan, myself.

I like the tan one too....how dark was the OD green in person? It looks pretty dark in pics.

Looked like standard OD green, not super dark, but about like the standard Army OD green uniform shirt.

I'll probably pick one up from CTD. I hadn't saw it there, $30 cheaper than anywhere else.

Just watch CTD when it comes to shipping, seen good prices on there totally offset by some whacked out shipping charges. Not always but often enough it makes you wonder sometimes.

Why do you say that? Because of the shipping?

No, my disgust with them stems from the gouging right after Sandy Hook. I haven't even looked at their website since then. I used to order quite a bit off there. Not anymore.

CTD is usually among the first and the worst about jacking up their prices at the first hint of a panic. ie $80 pmags
A lot of people have sworn them off for that reason.

In all fairness, I also have ordered less stuff online since then, from everywhere.

CTD was the first that started cancelling orders that were already paid for, then relisting at 5-10 times the price.

Of course Midway did this to me on an order of 5000 rounds of federal .22. They changed it to back order, then cancelled, then it was in stock at almost double the price.

Lesson learned, I didn't buy ANYTHING for a long time after Sandy Hook. So, I don't know who the good, the bad, and the ugly are. For that reason, I'll find another retailer.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't judging you or anyone else that buys stuff from them. I just don't. You should buy from whomever you wish. Not trying to dissuade you from being their customer.

I don't mind spending a few more dollars on principle. If a company is going to do something shady like that, it goes against principle. I've done far worse in the name of principle than spending a little more money on something.
