AMD65 Stock Options?
Well I am somewhat new to the AK world and picked up an amd 65 a bit ago....ive done the swap on the foregrip in favor of a small rail section and an AFG but the thing I dislike about the gun is the stock. I want to put a 7.5" ACE skelton stock on it. I have read other places about adapters and this and.that and its basically got my head hurting. Would someone mind telling me EXACTLY what I.need (links would be awesome) to convert it to a 7.5" ace stock and still be able to fold it?
Thanks, DOSS

Re: AMD65 Stock Options?
With the AMD65, you currently don't have many options. You could go with a Krebs mount, but it looks like shit. As of right now, your best bet is to pick up the cheek riser from AMDtech and live with it. I'm sure that's not what you wanna here, but it is what it is.

Re: AMD65 Stock Options?
Yea the riser from AMD Tech http://www.amd65tech.com/ is the best option. I would like to get one of the welded models, I think the bolt on would not hold firm.
Bolt on $35
Welded $50

The bolt on locks up solid so far, I haven't had any issues yet.nemo wrote:Yea the riser from AMD Tech http://www.amd65tech.com/ is the best option. I would like to get one of the welded models, I think the bolt on would not hold firm.

Re: AMD65 Stock Options?
Probably just end up doing that. inexpensive and easy. It doesnt affect firing when folded does it?

Re: AMD65 Stock Options?
accuracy isntthe issue. I have problems in on of the discs in my neck. having to suspend myhead at the funky angle causes pain. need to be able to.have a cheek weld to take some pressure off....and on that note...my amd is quicjly becoming my favorite gun over all. Ive almost talked myself into sbr'ing itToddstang wrote:I really like my AMD. By far my favorite AK.
I have no problem shooting it accuratley with the stock it came with.

AMD65 Stock Options?
Used 1/4 steel rod heat bent to shape. As for size specs, I used 1/8 stock held on with clips bending till it felt right. Used it as a template to bend. No real science there, just trial and error.

Re: AMD65 Stock Options?
On the vz58 I bought from a boardmember on the other site, he had used the foam pipe insulation bought at lowes. Seems to work ok, better than a cold hard piece of metal.Next wrote:What would be cool is if you could add a foam cheek piece like some AR pistol stocks

Re: AMD65 Stock Options?
Nice work Nemo. Posted this in the Pit, sort of, but I hate the standard AMD stock. The riser/welded stock from AMDtech is very comfortable to me. It puts your head right where it needs to be. I've never been a huge fan of wraps because they move, but if you can get them tight enough, awesome. Use what works for you.
A few people have said the bare metal gets cold and uncomfortable. If I'm shooting and it's cold enough to make bare metal uncomfortable, I'm wearing gloves on my hands and a shemagh on my face/around my neck to keep the heat in and brass out. "That's all well and good, but if you need to use it for real you won't have time to put on gloves or a shemagh!" If I'm using it for real: A) I don't care about my face being cold, or my middle finger being rubbed by the trigger guard. B) It will very probably be for a very short time. C) I doubt I would be using an AMD.

Re: AMD65 Stock Options?
so I have decided to buy an ace trunion block and drill the rivets on my gun and replace it. I do need to figure out which one I need (again aks are very new to me) Ive got an email in to ace now, as soon as I get a reply with the info needed I will order it. Not going to try and re-rivet, just going to use bolts/screws to secure it and then put an ace 7.5" stock on it
