Zastava N-pap cheek slap fix

Post by BK Meyers » Mon Sep 15, 2014 10:42 pm

Took my new N-pap to Knob Creek this wknd for a quick test session. Wanted to see if my previous "cheek slap" issue was still present.

Shot only 2-3 rounds with my original hold and could tell that the stock was going to beat painfully into my cheek again. Changed my hold position and placed my face closer to the receiver. Success!!! Fired another 50+ rounds with no painful cheek slap!!!

Also want to try another hold technique that I was directed to via Youtube. Instead of taking my head to the stock and sights the video suggests bring the rifle to eye level. This is much easier to see in the video then it is to describe but I could see how it would change the cheekweld.

Very pleased. I was concerned that I had bought a brand new rifle that I was going to have to sell for a loss. Looks like the N-pap stays!!!

BK. I had the same problem the first time out with my NPAP. I haven't taken it out since and was also considering selling it, or possibly a new stock.glad to hear a different hold stopped the cheek slap. I will have to check that out.

I had a similar issue with a magpul stock on my 870. I wound up selling it and putting the wood stock back on. Maybe I'll give it another try because I really liked the stock other than it felt like somebody was punching me in the face every time I pulled the trigger.

You may be on to something. Perhaps a modified "shoot from the hip" technique, something like shoot from the butt cheek!!!??? :D

Here is the link to the youtube video. It is a review of the O-pap but the cheek-slap issue is common to both the O-pap and the N-pap.

I have not had a chance to watch it all, but if you want to see the part about the different hold then fast forward to the 2:50 mark.

Good for you , but instead of you modifying your hold/stance, I think it is better to refit the stock to the shooter.
